Job Locations: The position requires travel to various locations in the Edmonton region (AB). The employer provides transportation when the job site is outside of the City of Edmonton.

Wage: $30-$32/hour (based on experience, salary increases as per Company policy); performance bonus per company policy.

Employment terms and conditions: Seasonal, Full-Time, 40 to 60 hours/week (weather-dependent), Morning, Day, Weekend, Overtime

Job requirements:

Language: Basic English

Experience: 3 years of related experience

Work Setting: Underground Infrastructure construction which includes storm, sanitary, and water mains within municipal, commercial, or residential land development projects.

Area of specialization: Laser levelling/aligning, cutting and bevelling pipe

Construction specialization: Municipal, commercial or residential deep underground utilities (storm, sanitary, and water systems).

Work Site Environment: Outdoors, Underground, Confined spaces, Dangerous, Dusty

Work conditions and physical capabilities:
Fast-paced environment, Physically demanding, Attention to detail, Tight deadlines, Repetitive tasks, Manual dexterity, Work under pressure, Handling heavy loads (Up to 23 kg (50 lbs))

Personal suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills, Flexibility, Reliability, Team player, Dependability, Judgement

Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots

Security and safety: Must comply with the companys drug and alcohol testing requirements

Duties:

Reporting to the Foreman, the Pipelayer will be responsible for preparing and installing underground sewer pipelines and water mains as required.

  • Load, unload, and transport construction materials,
  • Aligning pipes during sewer pipeline construction,
  • Level earth to fine-grade specifications,
  • Ensure blueprint specifications are followed,
  • Use laser levels, grade rods, or transit levels to ensure correct configuration & alignment of pipes,
  • Ensure the pipe is compliant with specifications with bedding, grade, and cover compaction,
  • Ensure company policies are followed to mitigate any damage to both overhead/underground utilities, property, and equipment,
  • Inspect places where pipes are fitted together to ensure pipes are spaced out properly and according to specifications,
  • Ensure pipes are bedded and covered with appropriate dirt or other material,
  • Mentor and guide helpers and new employees,
  • Know, understand, and ensure compliance with safety regulations,
  • Know and follow the companys rules, policies, and procedures.
