    Job Description


    Mission

    Our Energy team in the GTA is looking for a Project Manager/Project Engineer (Hydropower and Dams) to partake in the project management, business development, coordination of multidisciplinary teams, controlling project budget and schedules, be technical expert in design, inspection or restoration of various energy, dam, and hydropower facilities. The incumbent will demonstrate resourcefulness and initiative to carry out their tasks in an environment where empowerment is highly valued. This will be a hybrid role based in proximity of our Mississauga, ON office.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Manage project schedule, budget and deliverables for multiple Hydropower and Dams projects with the overall responsibility to strive for project success
    • Lead project management activities during the lifecycle of the project
    • Ensure quality processes are implemented in the project deliverables
    • Coordinate the work of multidisciplinary teams in several locations
    • Manage, be proactive and negotiate Change Orders
    • Complete and/or supervise design activities as lead project engineer and prepare or review engineering drawings and specifications for structural design (concrete, steel, or wood systems)
    • Determine construction costs and quantities in compliance with standardized methods and established drawings and specifications
    • Carry out studies and technical reports
    • Conducting field work inspections to suit the design and review construction of large civil projects
    • Lead/Collaborate on proposals writing and costing for different types of energy work and different clients
    • Solve technical problems requiring research or in-depth analysis
    • Flexibility to travel for sporadic site inspections and construction sites
    • Mentor and supervise the work of junior engineers and technicians
    • Lead synergies with several discipline leads in multi-discipline projects for project success

    Qualifications

    • University Degree in civil or structural engineering
    • Member of theProfessional Engineers Ontario (PEO) or eligible to obtain professional license
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred
    • Proven minimum 3 years of experience in project management activities, including overseeing of scope, schedule, resources, quality, and budget to ensure the project is delivered on budget and schedule
    • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the design of concrete and steel structures
    • Experience with water retaining structures and dam engineering is an asset
    • Excellent problem-solving techniques and motivated to work in large diverse teams and clients.
    • Knowledge of standards and codes governing structural design.
    • Working knowledge in structural analysis software (STAAD, SAP, ETABS, Mathcad, etc.)
    • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD considered as an asset
    • Possess a valid Driver’s licence and willing to travel for short mandates
    • Excellent management and leadership skills
    • Excellent oral and writing communication skills
