Senior Sales Representative – Metals (Steel & Industrial Materials)
Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Sales Representative to support the continued growth of our metals business. This opportunity is ideal for professionals with experience in steel, automotive, or industrial supply chains who are looking for long-term stability within a globally established organization.
This role is primarily a strong account management(“farmer”) position, with a strategic “hunter” mindset to identify growth opportunities within existing relationships.
Position Overview
As a Senior Sales Representative, you will manage the supply of steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other metals to key industrial sectors including automotive, energy, construction, and processing.
The role will begin with a portfolio of assigned accounts, focusing on operational excellence, relationship management, and identifying opportunities to expand product applications.
This is a newly created role driven by business growth, working within a lean and collaborative team structure.
Key Responsibilities
Account & Customer Management
- Manage assigned customer accounts, handling daily inquiries, delivery coordination, and issue resolution
- Maintain and strengthen partnerships with customers, suppliers, and processors
- Identify customer pain points and propose value-added solutions
- Support negotiations with customers and suppliers alongside senior leadership
Business Planning & Market Insight
- Contribute to pricing strategies and mid-to-long-term sales planning
- Prepare sales reports, forecasting materials, and market insights
- Monitor industry trends, supply/demand shifts, and raw material cost drivers
Supply Chain & Operations Coordination
- Coordinate import/export logistics and track contracts and inventory
- Maintain understanding of material specifications, production schedules, and supply flow
- Resolve operational discrepancies and improve cross-functional workflows
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure contracts and trading terms adhere to internal policies
- Support basic risk-management and insurance-related activities
What We’re Looking For
- University degree required (Business, Engineering, Economics, or related field)
- 3–5+ years of experience in B2B sales, purchasing, trading, or supply chain management
- Steel or automotive materials experience strongly preferred
- Experience working with Tier 1 automotive suppliers is an asset
- Basic understanding of major steel types and applications (automotive body panels, electrical steel, construction materials)
- Familiarity with supply chain operations, Incoterms, logistics (ocean and land), and inventory management
- Ability to quickly build strong foundational product and market knowledge
- Proficiency in MS Office
- SAP experience is an asset
- Valid driver’s license required for regular customer and supplier visits
