Overview

Reporting to the Director, PMO & Quality Assurance, the Senior Project Manager is responsible for establishing and leading assigned projects which may include client-facing or internal initiatives. The Senior Project Manager collaborates with business leaders and partners to develop plans and strategies for project execution. The Senior Project Manager maintains a full understanding of the company's core products and dependencies, directs, manages, and coordinates cross-functional teams that may include business and technology resources, user groups, internal and external consultants and contractors, vendors, and regulatory organizations. The Senior Project Manager ensures a successful business outcome through effective planning and coordination of all project activities. The Senior Project Manager helps improve the practice and posture of the Project Management Office through mentoring and advocacy for continual improvement.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and demonstrates an understanding of stakeholder needs, expectations, and requirements.
  • Leads a continual planning process by identifying dependencies across teams/services and coordinate delivery to drive a clear execution plan.
  • Establishes strong relationships with key stakeholders and partners, allowing for problem solving outside of group meetings and calls.
  • Leads collaborations with customers, product, architecture, Subject Matter Experts, designers, and software/quality engineers to maximize project quality and business value.
  • Optimizes the delivery flow of teams, actively addressing the most complicated risks and dependencies including where ownership exists outside the team or no clear ownership exists.
  • Keeps the internal team focused by tailoring the engagement model based on the understanding of the business drivers and constraints.
  • Recognizes tension points between project delivery and business needs/drivers, thinking outside the box to provide options that lead to "best fit" resolution.
  • Develops strong relationships and influences colleagues, stakeholders (internal and external) and partners to align to the business objectives.
  • Identifies problems or issues in the team dynamic and rectifies them by surfacing issues through agile health-checks with the team and coaching.
  • Coordinates activities of the project team to ensure project tasks are completed on time and commitments to stakeholders are upheld: schedules and facilitates project-related meetings, and communicates the action plan to the team.
  • Coaches and leads teams in Agile and Lean practices, continuously reflecting and challenging the team.
  • Manages cost and budget in complex environments by considering the impact of user needs, negotiating when projected conditions become unfavourable.
  • Supports other Project Managers by consulting and mentoring as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology or related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 7 to 10 years of experience in project management required.
  • Project Management certification is an asset.
  • Experience working in a technology company environment, preferably Web software, and project delivery using waterfall and agile methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple simultaneous projects involving cross-functional project teams and business units.
  • Strong understanding of technologies surrounding web-based applications.
  • Demonstrated leadership, negotiation, facilitation, and influencing skills.
  • Proven team-building and facilitation skills in order to engage teams in projects.
  • Ability to evaluate various options and make project adjustments as required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient with project management software and PC software applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Travel may be required depending on the location of clients.

Compensation: Annual base pay of $110,000.00-$130,000.00 CAD, depending on experience and qualifications, plus performance-based bonus.
