Senior Product Manager - Contract Drafting & Negotiation
Job Description
Litera is on a mission to Raise The Bar™ for the legal profession by delivering transformational, trusted solutions to law firms and corporate legal teams worldwide. As a leader in legal technology and AI innovation, Litera helps legal professionals work more efficiently, reduce risk, and deliver better outcomes for their clients.
Role Overview
This Senior Product Manager role sits at the heart of Litera’s strategy to modernize how contracts are drafted, negotiated, and finalized. The position can be based in our Toronto office, following our hybrid working model of 3 days a week in the office.
As a Senior Product Manager focused on contract drafting and negotiation, you will own one of Litera’s most strategically important lawyer workflows and be accountable for meaningful business outcomes, including adoption, retention, and revenue impact. You will lead the evolution of an end‑to‑end workflow that spans precedent discovery, clause assembly, collaboration, redlining, and clause‑level negotiation. Your role is to transform how legal teams work—helping them draft faster, negotiate more consistently, reduce risk, and close matters more efficiently—by applying innovative, AI‑powered approaches that lawyers trust and adopt at scale. This is a senior‑level role with significant autonomy and influence. Success is measured not by feature delivery but by customer impact and commercial results.
Business Outcomes You Will Drive
- Increased product adoption and engagement among lawyers involved in contract drafting and negotiation
- Reduced time and effort to draft and negotiate contracts, driving clear productivity gains for customers
- Greater consistency and reuse of approved clauses, helping firms manage risk and institutional knowledge
- Improved customer retention and expansion, supported by workflows that become critical to daily legal work
- Stronger competitive differentiation through AI‑enabled drafting and negotiation experiences that competitors cannot easily replicate
Core Product Focus
- Precedent document and template discovery
- Clause‑level drafting, insertion, replacement, and standardization
- Multi‑party collaboration through comments and review cycles
- Redlining and comparison across negotiation iterations
- Clause‑level tracking of accepted, rejected, and substituted language
AI is a central lever in this role, but always applied in service of outcomes: faster drafting, better decisions, and higher lawyer confidence. You will ensure deep understanding of the customer, competition, requirements, vision, roadmap, user experience, and end‑to‑end execution. You will partner with design, engineering, data science, and domain experts to shepherd product development and support go‑to‑market teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Strategy & Commercial Impact
- Define and own the product vision and roadmap for contract drafting and negotiation, aligned to Litera’s growth and revenue goals.
- Identify opportunities where improved workflows and AI‑assisted experiences can drive higher adoption, retention, and expansion.
- Make clear trade‑offs based on business impact, customer value, and delivery cost.
- Adoption & Customer Value
- Treat adoption as a first‑class product outcome, designing workflows that lawyers want to use repeatedly.
- Partner with customer success and sales to understand why customers buy, expand, or churn and translate those insights into product decisions.
- Establish and track success metrics tied to usage, workflow completion, and customer outcomes, not just feature delivery.
- AI‑Enabled Workflow Ownership
- Lead the delivery of AI‑assisted capabilities that help lawyers draft, review, and negotiate contracts more effectively.
- Ensure AI features are trusted, explainable, and controllable, driving confidence rather than resistance among legal users.
- Balance innovation with reliability in a domain where accuracy and risk management are critical.
- Go‑to‑Market Enablement
- Work with marketing and sales to clearly articulate the value of contract drafting and negotiation capabilities in commercial terms.
- Support sales enablement by translating product capabilities into customer‑relevant outcomes, use cases, and ROI narratives.
- Inform pricing, packaging, and positioning decisions based on customer value and competitive dynamics.
- Cross‑Functional Leadership
- Partner closely with engineering, design, data science, and domain experts to deliver high‑impact solutions efficiently.
- Communicate product priorities, outcomes, and performance clearly to executive stakeholders.
- Champion an outcome‑driven product culture focused on customer value and business results.
- Mentor and influence other product managers, contributing to a strong, outcome‑driven product culture.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in product management, with ownership of meaningful customer‑facing workflows
- Strong business acumen, with the ability to connect product decisions to adoption, revenue, and retention outcomes
- Demonstrable familiarity with AI and technology shifts
- Experience driving user adoption for complex, workflow‑heavy products
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience as a Transactional Lawyer or in legal technology or adjacent professional services markets is preferred
