The Opportunity

Tetra Tech is adding a Senior Mechanical Engineer to our Mechanical team based in Thunder Bay, ON . This is a new vacant position for which we are actively recruiting.

Your Role

Mechanically lead projects of appropriate size and complexity to develop safe, efficient mechanical designs and specifications compliant with industry codes and standards.
Work on mining and industrial process improvements, plant layouts, process equipment selections and integration, fluid and slurry pumping and piping, material handling, dust collection, HVAC, and fuel storage systems to name a few.
Participate in all project phases including scoping, proposals, feasibility, detailed design, construction support, commissioning, field engineering, and business development.
Prepare and review Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
Collaborate with multidiscipline teams and mentor junior engineers and technical staff to develop solutions based on your engineering calculations and simulations.
Support procurement, construction, and site activities including package development, vendor coordination and bid reviews.
Build and maintain strong client relationships and contribute to business development efforts.
Promote a strong safety culture and adhere to company policies and procedures.
Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
Additional duties as required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
Minimum 15 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, preferably in mining, or related sectors.
Must be registered as a professional engineer with PEO.
Familiarity with engineering analysis software.
Experience with industrial plant layout, pumping and piping systems, conveyors, HVAC, and material handling equipment.
Proficient/Expert with MS Office Suite including Teams, and MS Excel.
Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD software such as Plant 3D, AutoCAD, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Navisworks, Revit, CADWorx, Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar.
Engineering design software experience with AFT Fathom, Belt Stat, HAP, or similar software.
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
Willingness and ability to travel as needed.

The salary range for this position is $120,000 to $135,000 per year. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.
