As Senior Legal Counsel, you’ll give legal advice and insights to FCC leaders concerning all aspects of FCC’s business and function as a Canadian Crown corporation.



What you’ll do:

  • Provide legal advice on various matters of law pertaining to FCC’s activities
  • Advise on corporate authority, compliance requirements, and rights and obligations under contracts
  • Interpret statutes, internal documentation and policies
  • Retain and supervise the services of external legal counsel
  • Help develop and document internal policy and procedures regarding corporate loan products, programs and initiatives

What we’re looking for:

  • Creative and critical thinker who can advise on a variety of complex issues and provide advanced solutions
  • Proactive lawyer with risk mitigation experience in a commercially-oriented, dynamic environment
  • Collaborative relationship-builder who values the input of others, both inside and outside the legal team
  • Influencer with demonstrated negotiation skills able to deal with conflicting and complex areas
  • Proven planning, project management, communication (written and verbal) and contract drafting skills
  • Sound judgment and solid decision-making abilities
  • Multi-tasker able to manage high volumes of tasks and transactions effectively and efficiently

What you’ll need:

  • A graduate degree in law and at least five to ten years of commercial finance or banking experience
  • Law Society of Upper Canada licence and good standing to practie law as a barrister and solicitor in any Canadian province
