Position SummaryThe incumbent is responsible for providing expertise, execution, and support to achieving the Development team’s overall fundraising goals by focusing on cultivating, acquiring and retaining donors in four key areas: annual giving, monthly donors, major/mid donor, and planned giving.They will support the development team in providing best-in-class stewardship and being up to date with market trends and/or emerging opportunities in the channels for which the team is responsible.ResponsibilitiesMajor Donor/ Mid-Level, Annual Giving, & Planned Giving (40%)Working with the Chief Development & Marketing Officer and the Executive leadership, support a vibrant major gift program including their own pipeline of prospects.Develop and execute legacy giving including planned gifts to ensure sustainable revenue base.Provide best in class relationship management of major donors /mid-level donors including determining moves management; stewardship strategies, and cultivation ensure accurate and effective use of RE NXT and foundation Search CRMS.Provide support to the executive team and board members for major donor cultivation and relationship management.Develop effective donor proposals and stewardship reports using available resources such as the organization’s case for support, programmatic country reports, marketing collateral and beneficiary stories.Effectively deliver face to face presentations and speaking engagements with prospective and existing donors; community stakeholders, executive and board members.Establish a planned giving program which includes collateral and content development, cultivation strategy and administrative process to facilitate channel activation.Provide reporting and analysis of activity to ensure financial efficiency and the management of appropriate ratios.Provide oversight and support the execution of direct marketing campaigns to acquire, renew and upgrade annual donors under $10,000.Support and implement strategy for converting annual gift donors to monthly or to significant major giving levels – Moves Management.Work in a collaborative and integrated way with the International Programs (IP) Department to ensure that all team members are up to date with programmatic opportunities and priorities.Monthly Giving (30%)Support implementation of acquisition, retention, stewardship, reactivation and acknowledgement activities for War Child’s monthly donor base.Support the oversight of vendors who provide services in the execution of the monthly giving programs and ensure cost efficiency and quality. Vendors include Mail and fulfillment agencies, telemarketing, and design consultants.Identify market trends, emerging opportunities and risks with the ability to incorporate or mitigate as needed.Report on the portfolio Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), to include but not limited to: reactivation rates, revenue growth/attrition, comparison to years prior and tactics/ investment analysis. Support the development of technical guides and protocols as needed to support data collection, compilation, processing, analyzing, and reporting.System Management and Donor Administration Oversight (15%)Support the development of fundraising administrative infrastructure using Raiser’s Edge and Foundation Search CRMsEnsure the integrity and usability of donor data and financial processes to maximize fundraising activities and meet organizational reporting (e.g., prompt data imports, database backups, receipt filing, donor details).Development Marketing & Engagement (5%)Support the Marketing team in the planning and development of fundraising materials and tools available to the public for the purpose of fundraising on War Child’s behalf or educating the public on our mission and impact, i.e., case for support, annual report, donor reports or proposals.Operational and Administrative Support (10%)Support annual planning, day-to-day execution, project management, and reporting on portfolio activities.Support the annual budget process and monthly/quarterly reviews.Support the development of the short and long-term departmental strategic plan, annual operating plan, and financial/pipeline plan.Engage or collaborate with other departments as needed to support organizational or team activities or goals.Support oversight of agencies, vendors or volunteers as required.QualificationsExperience & KnowledgeUniversity Degree and/or equivalent education with a minimum of 5 years of experience (specifically relevant, progressive experience in fundraising)Demonstrated track record of achievement in securing major gifts independently and ability to identify, develop and “close” funding relationships.Familiarity with comprehensive fundraising functions and regulationsExceptonal writing and presentation skills and the ability to effectively communicate to a diverse constituencyA results-oriented focus, a driven attitude and an entrepreneurial approach to fundraising and problem solvingProficiency working with Microsoft Office suite of products and Raiser’s Edge or equivalent database an assetStrong organizational skills and the ability to balance competing prioritiesSkills & AbilityAbility to present data and analysis to a wide variety of audiences.An enthusiastic and strong team player with an ability to communicate effectively and collaborate across departments and functions within teams in Canada and internationally within War Child Canada’s program countries.Ability to multitask and work effectively to meet often short deadlines in a multi-layered / matrix team environment.A passion for mission-driven work and values aligned with those of War Child Canada.Excellent English language skills. Proficiency in French is an asset.Compensation & BenefitsSalary: $80,000-$90,000 CAD per year, depending on experienceBenefits: Health, dental, disability, and travel Insurance.
