Job Description
Job Title: Senior FinOps Analyst / Manager (Cloud Cost Management)
Duration: 12 months (extension possible)
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 1 day onsite, increasing to 3 days)
Hours: 37.5/week
Overview
Our client is seeking a Senior FinOps Analyst/Manager to manage and optimize cloud spend across Azure and AWS environments. This role focuses on budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis, partnering with finance and technology teams to drive transparency and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Track and manage cloud spend against budget and forecast
- Analyze and explain cost variances and key consumption drivers
- Develop reporting and dashboards for cloud usage and financial insights
- Partner with finance, engineering, and business teams to support decision-making
- Identify and track cost optimization opportunities
- Analyze billing and usage data across Azure and AWS
- Support stakeholder discussions and resolve billing-related issues
Must-Have Qualifications
- FinOps certification
- 3+ years of experience in FinOps, cloud financial management, or technology finance
- Hands-on experience with Azure and/or AWS cost management and billing
- Strong analytical skills with experience working with large datasets
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Ability to communicate complex data in a clear, business-friendly manner
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Nice-to-Have
- Basic scripting or coding (e.g., SQL, Python)
- Experience with reporting automation tools (e.g., AI/low-code tools)
- Familiarity with tagging, allocation, showback/chargeback practices
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
