Strides Toronto Support Services ("Strides Toronto") Strides Toronto is a multi‑service agency supporting infants, children, youth and young adults from birth to age 29, and their families, primarily across east Toronto. We offer community‑based, residential and treatment programs—including mental health counselling, autism services, early intervention, day treatment, education, outreach and community support—using a client‑centred, evidence‑informed approach. Since 2015, Strides destaque has served as Toronto’s Lead Agency for Infant, Child and Youth Mental Health, partnering with 21 core service providers to provide system leadership, city‑wide planning, coordinated service delivery and program alignment. Strides Toronto also leads initiatives with broader reach, includingHelp Aheadand theHOPE Strategyacross Toronto andOne Stop Talk/Parlons Maintenantand theProvincial Youth Outreach Worker Programacross Ontario.


About the Role


This is an existing vacancy for a full‑time permanent Senior Financial Analyst that supports all financial planning and analysis activities, including budget and forecasting, modelling, αλλαγ variance analysis, to provide strategic insights and support decision‑making for the organization. The role collaborates with various departments to monitor financial performance, prepare comprehensive reports, and identify opportunities for operational improvements.


What You Will Do


Support the financial planning and analysis (FP&A) activities, including budget and forecasting, modelling, and variance analysis to support strategic decision‑making.

Develop and maintain financial models to project future financial performance and assess the impact of various scenarios on the organization.

Prepare comprehensive financial reports and dashboards for senior management, highlighting key performance indicators and trends.

Monitor and analyse financial performance against established metrics, identifying areas for improvement and providing actionable recommendations.

Collaborate with Service Directors and Program Managers to gather relevant financial information and ensure alignment with organisational goals.

Create, generate or review reports for more than 70 programs, both internal and external within prescribed time‑frames utilizing the required templates to prepare the reports.

Support the payroll function by preparing the bi‑weekly journal entries and work with the Service Directors and Program Managers to reconcile staff salaries to the correct cost centres.


Must Haves


The following education, professional memberships and knowledge are a requirement for this role:

Undergraduate Degree in Accounting, Financeor Business Administration.

Minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience in accounting.

Knowledge and experience with financial reporting, maintaining books of accounts and year‑end audit work in a not‑for‑profit environment.

Experience in variance analysis, budgeting and forecasting expenses.

Advanced in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis tools.

Proficient with technology and experienced with accounting software, preferably Sage Intacct.

Experience in a dynamic environment and responsive to changing business requirements.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong business relationships.

Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks and responsibilities.

Possess a comprehensive understanding of stakeholder management such as vendor relations and funders.

Knowledge of funder requirements, audit expectations, and nonprofit funding models.

Knowledge of federal and provincial statutory regulations.

Awareness of the role of inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility (IDEA) in the workplace and within the community being served by the position. An understanding of anti‑black racism, anti‑oppressive/anti‑racism perspective in the context of the social determinants of health.

Ability to recognise and identify situations where incidents of imbalance of power and privilege may occur and can result in possible negative impacts.


Nice to Haves


While not required, preference will be given to candidates with the following:

CPA designation or working toward CPA certification is considered an asset.

Functional computer and client information system knowledge.

Fluency in another language(s), including sign language.
