We are seeking top-tier talent to join our Water division and build innovative projects, such as wastewater treatment plants, water treatment plants, water processing and control plants, and stormwater management. Senior Estimator Responsibilities:


  1. Develop coaching and mentoring skills with the estimating team throughout all aspects of the estimating process
  2. Determine the project scope of work
  3. Set-up and complete estimates in company standard estimating program
  4. Prepare preliminary construction schedules based on self-perform productivities and subcontractor input
  5. Complete estimate quantification and costing of general condition requirements, labour, and equipment, including productivities, material, etc
  6. Identify and develop constructability requirements for project construction
  7. Analyze design criteria and recommend best options based on cost, engineering quality, and availability of materials
  8. Identify and propose project risk and cost mitigation as well as the potential for project opportunities and cost savings
  9. Analyze and propose potential strategies, advantages, or innovations for the project that could provide Graham with a more competitive bid
  10. Apply labour and equipment productivities to estimates based on historically accurate values
  11. Analyze subcontractor bids for irregularities and ensure the full scope of work is included
  12. Oversee bid closings of mid to large projects led by more junior team members
  13. Assemble conceptual and budget costs using past project analytics, benchmarking, and historical data
  14. Lead / manage the Kick-Off Meeting, weekly strategy meetings, and any formal meetings pertinent to ensuring the estimate process will meet the milestone dates established

Qualifications and Experience:

  • High school graduate and completion of a diploma training program at a college or technical school; Gold Seal Certified, LEED Accredited, and LEAN experience are all assets
  • Ability to understand, utilize, and communicate specialized information in speech and written text
  • 8-12 years of a combination of field and estimating experience; design-build experience and proficiency in a variety of general procurement methods is an asset
  • Proficiency in the use of Graham software suite, MS Excel, scheduling software (Primavera preferred), quantification software (such as OnScreen Takeoff, Bluebeam, Agtek), and BIM modeling is an asset
  • Advanced degree of aptitude in comprehending tender documents, specifications, and drawings, with an understanding of contractual requirements
  • In-depth understanding of all construction scopes of work with the ability to develop scopes of work for Graham initiated tenders
