Senior Accountant – Trusts & Estates (T3)
Reporting to: Director, Tax Services
We’re looking for a Senior Accountant with deep experience in Trusts & Estates to play a key role in delivering high-quality tax services for complex T3, estate, and terminal returns. This is a hands-on role with leadership exposure, technical depth, and the opportunity to mentor and influence junior team members.

Technical & Client Work
- Prepare and review complex Trust, Estate, GRE, and terminal T1 returns
- Manage post-mortem and estate tax planning opportunities
- Review assessments, prepare adjustments, objections, and Clearance Certificate requests
- Liaise directly with CRA, clients, trust officers, and external tax professionals
- Ensure all compliance obligations are met accurately and on time, with full credit optimization
Leadership & Oversight
- Review work completed by junior staff and provide coaching and guidance
- Train and mentor new and developing team members
- Assign, monitor, and manage workloads to ensure deadlines are met
- Take ownership of assigned projects with minimal supervision
- Participate in special projects and process improvements as needed
Collaboration & Relationships
- Partner closely with internal tax teams and Trust professionals
- Explain complex tax matters clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- Build strong, trusted relationships with clients and internal teams

Your Experience & Qualifications
Must-Have
- 3–5+ years of experience in tax or accounting, with strong exposure to Trusts & Estates
- Hands-on experience preparing:
- T1 personal returns
- T1 terminal (final) returns
- T3 Trust & Estate returns
- Familiarity with Graduated Rate Estates (GREs)
- Experience using tax preparation software
- Strong tax research, technical analysis, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lead, review work, and make sound decisions
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting (or equivalent)
Nice-to-Have
- CPA designation (or actively working toward it)
- STEP, CSI, or advanced taxation coursework
- Experience working in a paperless environment
- Exposure to outsourcing or workflow optimization initiatives
