Position Details
- Position: Full-Time Security Guard
- Site: Scarborough Birchmount Hospital, 3030 Birchmount Rd, Scarborough, ON M1W 3W3
- Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours
- Hours: Continental Nights (1900 - 0700 hrs)
- Payrate: $18.73/hr
- Posting Date: Feb 17, 2026

Key Responsibilities
- Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure safety and security.
- Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems; report any suspicious activity immediately.
- Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to ensure only authorized individuals access restricted areas.
- Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats; assist staff during crises and evacuations.
- Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and staff; provide directions and ensure adherence to policies.
- Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations and resolve conflicts professionally.
- Report Writing: Document daily activities and incidents; complete incident reports as needed.
- Collaboration with Hospital Staff: Work with hospital staff and local law enforcement to ensure coordinated security.
- Enforce Policies: Ensure compliance with hospital policies and address violations appropriately.
Prerequisites
- Valid Security License for Ontario
- Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
- COVID-19 vaccination (two doses)
- Immunization records for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella and two-step TB skin test
- Ability to maintain clean-shaven for N-95 mask
- English fluency (spoken and written)
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or related field preferred
- Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) or opt into Paladin training prior to onboarding
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
Education & Certification Requirements
- Education in Law Enforcement or equivalent; post-secondary education in law enforcement or Police Foundations Diploma preferred
- First Aid, CPR Level C
- Valid Ontario Security License
- Immunization records as listed above and two-step TB skin test
- COVID-19 double vaccinated
