A Postdoc position is available in the Genetics and Genome Biology lab of Dr. Ajoy Vincent at the Research Institute, The Hospital for Sick Children, University of Toronto.
Our lab is involved in the analysis of whole-exome, whole-genome, and RNA-seq datasets, identifying and classifying disease-causing variants in inherited retinal and eye disorders.
The candidates must have a recent PhD in physiology, biochemistry, genetics, or related fields with an excellent academic record and evidence of interest in basic research at the graduate level. Candidates with experience in genomic data analysis, variant interpretation, and expertise in R will be given preference. Proficiency in using tools such as ClinVar, gnomAD, IGV, UCSC Genome Browser, GTEx, and ACMG/ClinGen frameworks for variant interpretation is highly desirable.
A successful candidate will work on the development of a genome analysis pipeline for inherited eye disorders. Candidate should also be expected to perform functional assays on cell lines (tissue samples) such as Sanger sequencing, western blot, imaging and animal models (if necessary).
The candidates will work closely with Dr Vincent and the experienced research team, including graduate student(s). They will collaborate with research laboratories at the SickKids Research Institute and the University of Toronto, as well as with national and international collaborators.
Employment Type: Full-time temporary 1 year contract with modified benefits included (i.e., health & dental insurance), 1.0 FTE
