We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated Registered Early Childhood Educator Relief who demonstrates our values of compassion, accountability, responsiveness and empowerment; to our clients, families and each other.

The Registered Early Childhood Educator is working as part of a team providing a positive learning environment that supports childrens emotional, social, cognitive and physical growth and development. Wesleys Childcare Program Staff, care for and observe children each day to understand and foster their interests and provide an engaging and stimulating environment and program.

This position is a unionized, temporary relief position. The rate of pay is $17.71 per hour; the rate of pay varies from $23.71-$28.37 based on eligible wage top-ups available. Hours per week are up to 40.


Key Responsibilities:



  1. Develop, plan, promote, implement, and evaluate day-to-day operations of the programs with the support of the Supervisor Early Years and other staff.

  1. Plan and implement programming based on the Ministry of Educations pedagogy How Does Learning Happen? as well as the Tools for Life Program.
  2. Create and maintain a safe learning environment that is responsive to the interests and needs of the children in the program.
  3. Provide quality, play-based learning and supervision of all children in the care of Wesley Urban Ministries at all times.
  4. Ensure program needs are being met and in compliance with program licensing requirements.
  5. Welcome, support and interact with all clients, including those from culturally diverse backgrounds, newcomers to Canada, LGBTQ2S+, young parents, etc.


What you will bring:


  1. Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education and registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
  2. Minimum 2 years of experience working with children and their families.
  3. Experience working in a childcare program, with parents, and with community partners.
  4. Thorough knowledge of applicable legislation, i.e., Child Care and Early Years Act (2014).
  5. Experience working with culturally diverse, newcomer, LGBTQ2S+, and young families
  6. Current First Aid/CPR, Safe Food Handling Certificate, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (N.V.C.I.) training.
