Emergency Room (ER) Registered Nurse
Employment Type: Casual, Part-Time, Full-Time, Travel Contracts Available
Compensation: Competitive hourly rates + shift premiums (evenings/nights/weekends)
About the Opportunity
We are seeking experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurses (ER RNs) to support high-acuity, fast-paced emergency services. This community-focused acute care site serves a diverse population within the Fraser Health region and provides comprehensive emergency services including trauma stabilization, cardiac emergencies, stroke management, and complex medical presentations.
This role is ideal for confident, adaptable RNs who thrive in dynamic environments and are skilled in rapid assessment, prioritization, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform rapid triage and comprehensive patient assessments
- Provide emergency nursing care to trauma, cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and medical-surgical patients
- Initiate IV therapy, administer emergency medications, and manage critical drips
- Operate and interpret cardiac monitoring and emergency diagnostic equipment
- Participate in Code Blue, trauma activations, and critical incident response
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, paramedics, and interdisciplinary teams
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic documentation
- Ensure adherence to infection control and patient safety standards
Required Qualifications
- Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
- Minimum 2 years recent Emergency Room experience in a high-acuity hospital setting
- Current certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – preferred
- CTAS (Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale) – preferred
- Strong critical thinking and crisis management skills
- Experience with electronic charting systems
Preferred Experience
- Tertiary or high-volume Emergency Department experience
- Stroke and cardiac emergency management
- Pediatric emergency care
- Experience within Fraser Health facilities
