Katzie First Nation is looking for a dynamic and strategic
Referrals Manager
to lead a team at the forefront of land and resource consultation. In this pivotal role, you'll guide the review and response to referrals that impact Katzie territory, ensuring that every decision reflects the Nation's values, knowledge, and priorities.
You'll collaborate with community leaders, government agencies, and industry proponents to uphold Katzie's rights and title, while integrating traditional knowledge and technical expertise into every consultation process. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor the Referrals Team, providing guidance, performance support, and professional development.
- Oversee the intake, tracking, and review of all referrals and related consultation processes.
- Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of referral responses, reports, and correspondence.
- Support team with two-eye seeing approach of understanding and weaving traditional knowledge and customary law with western science or crown law into the referral process
- Work closely with the Guardian Manager to align referrals with Katzie Guardian work in the territory.
- Liaise with proponents and government agencies to facilitate effective consultation and engagement.
- Coordinate and facilitate community engagement activities related to referrals and consultation.
- Oversee the transition and maintenance of referrals tracking systems and data management tools.
- Monitor and report on project milestones, deliverables, and budget requirements with the support of finance staff.
- Support with the development of funding applications and agreements, and track and maintain associated reporting.
- Establish and manage contracts with professionals and technical project support teams
- Support the Director in implementing departmental strategies, work plans, and funding agreements.
What We're Looking For
- Post-secondary degree in Indigenous Studies, Land and Resource Management, Environmental Science, Archeology or a related field.
- 5–7 years of experience in Indigenous consultation, land/resource management, or related progressive work experience.
- Equivalent combinations of education, work experience, or comparable lived experience will be considered.
- Knowledge of Katzie territory and a willingness to learn of Katzie community and Katzie's customary laws and protocols
- Demonstrated experience supervising or managing teams, including leading discussions and providing direction.
- In-depth understanding of Indigenous rights, title, and consultation processes, including municipal, regional, provincial and federal policies, acts, guidelines, reports, key legal precedent cases, commissions etc.
- Experience or knowledge with major projects reviews and Indigenous-led cumulative impact assessments
- Municipal, regional, provincial and federal policies, acts, regulations, and guidelines, best practices related to land and resource management including water, cultural heritage, fish, wildlife, birds, energy, transportation, forestry, minerals, land-use development etc.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office/365 and project management tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information to diverse audiences.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for relationship-building, mediation, and conflict resolution.
- Ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and areas of expertise.

Hourly Wage:
$80,000-$85,000annually
