As NGE expands its presence internationally, NGE Canada is looking for a qualified Quantity Surveyor to join our RSSOM Project Team.You will be part of an international team, composed mainly of engineers and construction employees, able to meet the expectations of the local and international markets.We are growing fast in Canada and we need you!About the ProjectThe Rolling Stock, Systems, Operations and Maintenance (RSSOM) project is one of many contracts to deliver the Ontario Line, a 15.6-kilometre stand-alone rapid transit line that will connect the Ontario Science Centre to Exhibition/Ontario Place.Project BenefitsFaster, more frequent and reliable access to rapid transit with more than 227,500 people will live within a 10-minute walk of an Ontario Line stationImprove the quality of life for commuters by reducing daily travel timeReduce crowding on the existing Line 1 (Yonge-University) subwayUp to 57,000 more jobs accessible by transit (in 45 minutes or less) for Toronto residentsEconomic and community growth along the future transit line and thousands of job opportunities annually during constructionReduction in traffic congestion, greenhouse gases and fuel consumption by providing an alternative transportation optionThe RoleReporting to the Technical Director, the Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for providing support to ongoing projects and supporting the company’s estimating and construction teams to ensure that the company’s project controls system is properly implemented and utilized. ResponsibilitiesDetermine the project cost accrual for the month.Prepare the SIL (Work Cost – Work Internal Progress) summary for subcontractors and transfer it to SAP Finance module.Prepare the report of the subcontractor’s status.Prepare the sub-supplier vendors workers list and submit.Oversee the submittals to Cost Control and Project Controls for the SIL (production) based on quantities tracked on site for the self-performing activities and the progress of the subcontractors coming from the payment progress or payment application.Meet with Contracts and Construction Managers for updates regarding status of the contracts/POs to determine if additional budget or if change orders are needed and other contractual matters.Prepare the SIL Master database and equipment report and submit it to cost control.Prepare the payment certificates for all subcontractors/supplier/third party service providers and consultants while ensuring to check prices and quantities.Print out the physical payment certificate and SAL (Work Invoiced – Status of Work for Invoicing) with the backup documentation and acquire required approval.Ensure tracker is updated for subcontractors, based on the documents received.Update the tracker for the aggregates and forward summaries monthly to the warehouse team.Tracking the hours for labor and the equipment – crosschecking what is submitted by the partners and what is entered in Procore or similar PM/ERP software by our site representative.Attend weekly meetings with construction teams regarding tracking of quantities performed.Ensure frequent communication with Procurement /Contracts regarding issuances of change orders for specific PO’s.Ensure all project documentation is compliant with project formats, company standards, styles, and verification forms.Other duties as assigned/required.QualificationsMinimum of 5 plus years of experience working for a contractor as a Quantity Surveyor, Quantity Survey Coordinator/ Administrator, Cost Controller, Project Controller or Estimator.Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related field.Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in major transportation projects.Minimum of 2 years of experience in LRT Systems Engineering or equivalent is an asset.Experience with estimating, budgeting, and planning.Highly developed interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships.Ability to complete written reports and electronic communications expeditiously and with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism.Computer proficiency with a strong knowledge of PCs and software applications related to the work.A self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to take initiative.Strong analytical and quantitative skills are a must.Available for occasional overtime work.Well organized, flexible, detail oriented and multi-tasked.Proficient in the English language (speaking, written and reading).Preferred SkillsExperience/knowledge in ERP Software (SAP).LRT experience preferred but not required.Experience in project administration and/or document control in a design or professional services environment is an asset.Exceptional interpersonal skills.Ability to communicate and develop relationships.We are an equal opportunity employer.
