THINKalpha/Avatar is in search of an experienced Quantitative Researcher to join our team. This position requires a highly analytical individual with a deep understanding of market structures and financial instruments. The candidate will focus on helping to build and develop our automated trading systems, own the data pipeline from start to finish, and ensure the accuracy/reliability of our quantitative database.

Requirements:

  • Strong Python programming skills with an emphasis on data analysis and manipulation
  • At least five years of hands-on experience in a quantitative trading environment
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Prior experience in algorithmic trading working on strategies that have deployed $10+ million on a daily basis and generated a minimum of $1 million in annual PnL
  • Commitment to high-quality, sustainable, and well-documented code
  • Ability to deliver and add value in an unstructured environment

Responsibilities:

  • Specify and manage the construction of solutions to automated trading strategies.
  • Apply quantitative analytics to generate and improve automated strategies
  • Own the quant pipeline at ThinkAlpha and manage the implementation of new datasets and, features.
  • Manage and maintain the quantitative database, ensuring accuracy and accessibility with our engineering team
  • Supervise software deployment and monitoring, help maintain and improve deployed systems
  • Conduct research on market trends, risks, and opportunities


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Advanced understanding of Market Structure, Risk Management and Trade Execution
  • Expertise in hedging methodologies and strategies
  • Proficiency in Python, with significant experience in libraries for data manipulation and analysis
  • Familiarity with SQL, MongoDB, and data warehousing solutions
  • A strong academic background in a relevant field such as Financial Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Statistics
  • Experience with Git, SSH, AWS EC2, S3, and Docker
