As a Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) Director, you are responsible for overseeing and implementing strategies to ensure the organization’s adherence to quality standards, health and safety regulations, and environmental policies.

Your role involves developing and maintaining systems that promote a safe and healthy work environment while minimizing environmental impact.

Our client, a renewable energy company, is seeking a talented Quality and HSE Director to join their growing team.

Responsibilities:

● Work with engineering, Quality Manager, QE, and supply chain personnel on supplier and individual part qualifications
● Develop and upkeep the ASL (Approved Supplier List) and have annual quality/capacity audits with key suppliers
● Coordinate with supply chain the proper containment, return/rework, and corrective actions for quarantine parts
● Establish the documented quality management system based upon the ISO 9001-2015 criteria
● Manage the NCR (Non-Conforming Report) system and hold people accountable for corrective actions and closing NCRs
● Oversee incoming material and outgoing finished goods for quality control/quality assurance
● Be a customer advocate and work with them to address any quality concerns that they have in regards to the products that we ship them
● Work with internal Project management and external customers to coordinate activities in PD, PE, supply chain, manufacturing and operations such that they are performed under the proper guidelines as highlighted in the QMS
Drive the ISO-9001-2015 certification
● Perform internal audits on business processes at least annually per the ISO 9001 specifications
● Hold an annual management meeting with the Leadership team per ISO 9001 specifications
● Schedule and host the external ISO 9001 audits once certification is ready or recertification is needed
● Oversee and validate the training of the organization in quality management system processes and update them on any changes
● Develop and track monthly quality and HSE metrics/KPIs for the organization
● Perform regular cadenced HSE audits in Next Hydrogen’s facilities
● Establish and provide initial onboarding QHSE training for new employees
● Provide PPE (personal protective equipment) recommendations for manufacturing floor personnel and work with supply chain to source it
● Coach, mentor, and develop quality managers, quality engineers and HSE personnel


Preferred Experience/Qualifications:

● 8 – 10+ years experience as a quality manager supporting a manufacturing/service operation
● Minimum of 10 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
● Experience Leading HSE policies, procedures and enforcement of them in a manufacturing environment
● Exposure to Canadian Health, Safety , and Environmental regulations
Previous experience working within an ISO-9001-2015 certified manufacturing shop
● Experience defining and documenting quality management procedures
● QMS (Quality Management System) audit experience
● Shop floor manufacturing operations experience
● Experience in implementing Lean manufacturing principles (and/or six sigma) in a manufacturing environment
● Previous experience using an ERP system and/or an IT system for quality
● Strong knowledge of quality assurance policies, processes and procedures.
● Experience in project management and customer interface from a quality and HSE aspect
● Proven ability to lead, motivate and build teams.
● Strong written and verbal communication skills.
● Capable of reading and interpreting technical documents.
● Excellent organizational skills including the ability to efficiently evaluate, prioritize, and handle multiple and changing projects


Education:

● BS in quality systems, engineering, operations management or equivalent
● Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma problem-solving training
● MBA is preferred
● Certified quality inspector, engineer or manager preferred



Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $130,000.00-$145,000.00 per year
