The Southern Alberta Transplant Program (ALTRA) Senior Project Manager supports the following areas within the Foothills Medical Center (1) Unit 37- Acute med surg inpatient unit, supporting renal transplant recipients, living donors & complex nephrology patients (2) Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) Outreach team, supporting inpatient & Emergency care (3) ALTRA organ group clinics – heart, kidney, lung, liver, & pancreas (4) Living Donor Program in collaboration with Southern Alberta Organ & Tissue Donation Program & the Northern Alberta Transplant teams. The ALTRA Senior Project Manager addresses strategic priorities to achieve organizational objectives though project leadership, change management, service design, process improvement principles & capability/capacity building. This position supports projects at the site, zone & provincial level while collaborating with ALTRA operational & physician leads, AHS stakeholders & external partners, to standardize practice & integrated service delivery across provincial adult inpatient units, sites, & programs. This role provides consulting expertise & is responsible for developing project plans, preparing business cases while ensuring a strong stakeholder, patient engagement, relationship management, conflict resolution, communication, & evaluation strategies exist.
This position supervises project teams; leads working groups/committees; & facilitates engagement of various stakeholders (e.g., clinical staff, & senior leaders) from all levels of the organization to successfully achieve project priorities, timelines, & deliverables. The ALTRA Senior Project Manager builds purposeful partnerships & coalitions with internal & external stakeholders to lead change & achieve results. Description: Leadership and Project Management:Leads, supports, and provides direction to multiple project teams and working groups to deliver on project priorities, deliverables, and timelines. Projects are typically highly complex in nature, have multiple phases, financial budget and significant scope.Ensures that project objectives align with site, zone and/or organizational priorities.Monitors project progress and provides regular project status reports to the project sponsor, clinical network or other leadership stakeholders.Relationship Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:Understands the context and environment of multiple stakeholders and collaborators (physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, executives, business representatives, external stakeholders, patients and families, and others) in order to work and communicate effectively.Delivers presentations (both written and oral) of highly technical subject matter.Manages the development of communication strategies to position recommendations for addressing gaps and barriers to implementation with ALTRA Leadership, and where required AHS Executive.Change Management:Understands impact of changes for key stakeholders; analyzes and adjusts change management approach accordingly in collaboration with operational and physician leaders and other stakeholders.Applies change management methodologies (ADKAR) and tools to assigned projects to achieve project deliverables and objectives.Data Analysis and Evaluation:Leads and develops a strategy for collecting, reporting and monitoring of all projects.Develops and implements project evaluation frameworks.
Engages research and evaluation expertise as appropriate to support more complex project evaluation. Equivalencies of education may be considered.Current registration with affiliated professional body required.Master’s degree in health-related discipline.Certification in process improvement methodologies and project management, such as LEAN or specialized training in quality improvement. Additional Required Qualifications: Minimum of 2 within last 3 years of quality management (QI methodology, gap analysis, evaluation) and/or project management.Demonstrated experience in facilitation and/or coordination experience in project planning, execution, reporting, monitoring and evaluation.Demonstrated ability to problem solve with a global perspective in order to incorporate the program/organization’s systems and strategies when developing viable solutions to problems.Demonstrated leadership skills including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others.Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to facilitate, negotiate, and persuade others at all levels of the organization.Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, influential skills, and client focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services.
Ability to relay or explain complex issues or difficult situations. Skills in negotiation, facilitation and conflict resolution are required.Experience in coordinating projects or teams, complex data analysis and/or interpretation, evaluation methodologies, and developing formal reports.Computer knowledge and proficiency related to databases, work processing, spreadsheets, flowcharting, graphics and document management systems. Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of 3 within last 5 years of progressive leadership experience in acute healthcare delivery or management.Previous clinical experience within complex health care environments that cross acute care, outpatient and community, and other associated partners and stakeholders.
