Professional Counsellor
Job Description
The Professional Counsellor will work as a multidisciplinary team member and provide various assessment and treatment services for individuals and families, particularly children and youth. The Counsellor provides assessments and one-to-one counselling utilizing a variety of traditional and modern therapies. In addition to delivering clinical-focused therapies, the Family Counsellor provides referrals and consultation with other professionals who may assist the client toward wholeness. The Counsellor collaborates with other healthcare providers and community service providers to ensure a continuum of care in the community.
Duties: Provide one-on-one counselling sessions, with a focus on children and adolescents, focusing on emotional support and coping strategies. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, educators, and families to develop comprehensive care plans tailored to each client's needs. Engage in case management activities, including monitoring progress and adjusting treatment plans as necessary. Engage in professional development on best practices in child and youth counselling and special education to enhance service delivery. Collect data on children's behavior and progress for reporting purposes and to inform future interventions. Maintain accurate records of counselling sessions, assessments, and treatment plans while ensuring confidentiality.

Education Required
- Recognized Degree in a mental health/Professional Counselling related discipline required (e.g. Psychology, Social Work, Counselling)
- Or equivalencies
- Registration in an Alberta Health Services recognized professional licensing body (CAP, ACSW, CPCA, ACTA)
- Training/experience in various counselling and healing therapies, i.e but not limited to: CBT, CISD, Narrative, Rogerian, Christian, and group therapy
Experience Required
- Training/experience in various counselling and healing therapies, i.e but not limited to: CBT, CISD, Narrative, Rogerian, Christian, and group therapy
- Being authorized to perform psychosocial interventions and having specific training related to family therapy is an asset
- A solid foundation of clinical work is required to support the complex skills of engagement, assessment, clinical case planning and management, application of a wide variety of therapeutic models and modalities, and clinical and program consultation is an asset
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work collaboratively and to contribute positively to change in emerging services/programs
- Demonstrate leadership, organizational and clinical skills coupled with the ability to be self-directed and highly motivated
- Pastoral counselling experience will be considered
