The Product Developer reports to the Director of Product Development and is a key member of our Product Development team. As the Product Developer, you will interface between Marketing, Sales and Purchasing to help identify opportunities and transform those opportunities, pursuant to our product development process, into actual competitive products.This position calls for an individual with a broad skill set, an entrepreneurial spirit and keen design sense to help build and execute developments within set timelines. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, provide innovative solutions and have the ability to think on their feet.PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS & OBJECTIVESDevelop strong vendor relationships, monitor industry trends and evaluate competitionReview assortment planning to identify opportunities and capitalize on current trends including new category introductionsAnalyze in-line product performance on a weekly basis and provide recommendations to boost salesDeveloping new products from rendering to sampling to final productionReports directly to the Director of Product Development while working closely with our designers, internal teams, agents and factories overseasAbility to travel overseas for factory visits and/or sourcing and inspiration trips as requiredConduct market trend research and understand changes in the industry and consumers behaviorCreate mood boards and design briefs as requiredPerform zone reviews – analyzing product and vendor performanceCommunicate and follow-up with overseas factories on a day-to-day basis regarding sample development, production and any issues that ariseUnderstanding of the furniture laws and regulations in our markets and assist internal teams and factories to ensure complianceExplore new sources to bring to life material options for our vendorsPartner with QA team to review and approve samples on Qarma app.Work closely with the Director of Product Development on trade shows i. Before each Trade Show:Work with the Assistant or Junior Product Developer to ensure POs containing samples for the show are prioritized and documented by the Logistics and Warehouse Teams ii.
