What You Will Be Doing Install, align, dismantle and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, furnaces and generators according to layout plans using hand and power tools.
Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes, jacks and tractors to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up and repair of machinery. Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions. Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures. Install, troubleshoot and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and programmable logic controls.
Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts. Operate machine tools such as lathes and grinders to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machinery. Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery. Construct foundations for machinery or direct other workers to construct foundations.
Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment. Complete required paperwork accurately and on time. Other duties as assigned. Reality of the Job This is a Monday to Friday shift with potential to work Saturdays with overtime hours when needed.
What We Would Like from You Red seal millwright certification is an asset. Welding experience is an asset. High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred. Mechanical and Pneumatic skills.
Pumps & Blowers experience. Conveyor experience. Additional experiences considered assets: welding & fabrication experience. Forklift operation experience and/or ability to learn.
A get it done quickly/properly attitude with a strong commitment to safety, customer service and teamwork. Excellent hand-eye coordination, comfortable working at high elevation and can problem solve by looking and listening. Ability to work as a team member and follow through with scheduled tasks and instructions. Able to use a wide variety of hand tools and troubleshoot repairs.
Ability to reliably work the specified schedule, and/or a 6-day week from time-to-time. Ability to work for other BURNCO plants in the Lower Mainland on business needs. IMPORTANT: As this is a safety sensitive position, it is a condition of employment that candidates selected for hire must successfully pass pre-employment testing including a drug and alcohol screen (Cannabis included), and a Fitness to Work test.
