Job Description
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Develop, manage and maintain the planning and production functions. Manage a team of planners and production supervisors to achieve or exceed production, service, and sales related objectives including OTD, productivity, efficiency. Plan and implement all production material requirements in a single manufacturing hub to ensure an efficient supply chain across Canada.
SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Plan and effectively communicate all material requirement in terms of: what to do, quantity needed, when needed, and sourcing (both internal and external).
- Manage production and materials on a daily basis.
- Keep Item Master updated in terms of: lead time, safety stock, sourcing, minimum quantity and other pieces of information.
- Keep shipping dates updated- work jointly with other areas. Responsible for due date management.
- Lead inventory management- decide what to have in stock, decide quantity to have in stock, manage Inventory Quality, Non Stock Management, Gross Inventory, achieve Gross Inventory Targets and effective Stock Replenishment.
- Assist with achieving targets for quality, on-time delivery, lead time reduction, and productivity.
- Help to control manufacturing costs and support cost-reduction strategies to support site and business profitability.
- Ensure optimal use of all manufacturing assets and lead initiatives to increase efficiency and output.
- Make sourcing decisions based on demonstrated Capacity – using ERP capacity module.
- Work jointly with Purchasing to develop a reliable and efficient Suppliers Base.
- Keep tracking of Suppliers and Plant lead time, quality and costs and develop jointly with other areas to improve performance.
- Manage all Planning personnel and Production Supervisors (Supervise, train, interview, hire, terminate, transfer, promote and evaluate employees' performance.)
- Ensure that all materials planning and production activities are carried out in support of corporate customer service and financial objectives, and in accordance with corporate policies and procedures.
- Take an active role in promoting the needs of the customer in the management and practical integration of the JC Inc. supply chain.
- Develop Manage and Promote interdepartmental communication from order entry to the manufacturing/CPW areas to ensure the needs and expectations of the customer are fulfilled.
- In conjunction with Purchasing and other related functions, assist in the development and implementation of supplier programs and sourcing plans in support of agreed objectives.
- Lead or assist in the analysis of vendor and feeder plant performance. Through regular communication, provide feedback and identify needs or opportunities for improved performance.
- Develop a continuous improvement culture in the planning function and assemble multi-disciplinary teams as required capitalizing on opportunities for enhancements throughout the supply chain.

Production Planning & Scheduling: Develop, manage, and maintain production schedules to meet customer demand while optimizing capacity.
- Collaborate with Purchasing, Sales, Production, and Logistics to update delivery times, synchronize forecasts and address bottlenecks.
- Material Requirements Planning (MRP): Analyze inventory levels, demand forecasts, and supply constraints to ensure timely availability of materials for production, preventing shortages or excesses.
- Continuous Improvement: Implementing Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or Six Sigma initiatives to reduce waste, increase efficiency, and optimize workflow.
- Performance Monitoring: Tracking Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, forecast accuracy, inventory turnover, and production efficiency.
- Data Management: Utilizing ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JobBoss) to maintain accurate data for production, materials, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Management: Manage all Planning personnel and Production Supervisors (Supervise, train, interview, hire, terminate, transfer, promote and evaluate employees' performance.)
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Materials, Supply Chain, Operations Management or Engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in manufacturing operations, planning or supply chain environment. Minimum of 4 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Minimum of 4 years working with ERP Systems based on MRP – Modules of Inventory, MPS, Planning, Capacity, etc. Solid experience in Planning, Scheduling, etc.
- Solid foundation of inventory principles
- Good record of KPIs improvement, OTP, Cycle time, Inventory reduction, Supplier development, etc.
- Certified in Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma or similar is desirable.
Salary range: $100,000 — $120,000 CAD
