Job Purpose
To guide and support teammates through a safe and productive work site. Ensure production occurs according to schedule and contract specifications. Allocate appropriate manpower to various sites and locations based on production schedules, record and report hours to the payroll liaison.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform all duties with a focus on safety, and exhibit the qualities of a Nucor teammate
- Promote and demonstrate proper Health and Safety procedures to the Foreman and Rodman
- Assist with pre-job site-specific safety plans & JHAs or PSIs
- Ensure the project stays on track by adhering to and implementing the specifications in the drawings and installation plans.
- Ensure safety orientations are completed for new employees
- Monitor sites for hazards or unsafe working conditions and correct the unsafe issues
- Ensure all sites and foremen conduct daily safety meetings
- Investigate, document, and report injuries, accidents, incidents, and near-miss incidents, and implement the discipline policy when necessary.
- Review project inspections with the contractor and implement corrective measures.
- Attend safety committee meetings.
- Ensure all company vehicles and equipment are maintained in safe operating condition, and that inspections are completed and recorded before use.
- Prepare materials and resources for the project Foreman
- Ensure validation of work time and codes that will then be reported to the customer service branch for processing
- Managing staffing requirements as needed
- Review and provide Placing productions, including field requirements for new tenders.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of five to seven years’ experience in Rebar installation at a supervisory level
- Ability to communicate effectively with all trades, contractors, foremen, and rodman
- Requires a minimum of five years of thorough knowledge on various large Rebar installations, including at least two of the following: bridge, infrastructure, high-rise, water treatment facilities & subway/tunnel
- Strong understanding of workplace safety (Ex, WHMIS, First Aid & Fall Arrest) and a leader who is able to lead by example
- Must be able to provide a proven track record (Ex, Timely, under budget, completion of large projects)
- Candidate should have good organizational skills, demonstrate a positive attitude, and adapt well to changes.
- Open to new ideas and be innovative and result-oriented
- Aware of procedures and reporting for employee time worked, and coordination with the payroll department
- Availability on weekends and any active shifts required to manage operational and customer demands
