Position Overview
Under the general supervision of the Drug Distribution Manager, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital, the Pharmacy Assistant is responsible for: the procurement, storage, inventory management, recording, preparing, dispensing, packaging, labeling, pricing, issuing and distribution of pharmaceuticals in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Department.
Experience
- Previous experience in hospital pharmacy practice is preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Successful completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program.

Qualifications and Skills
- Basic keyboard skills.
- Knowledge of computer systems and proficiency in the use of spreadsheet, word processing, and email and internet software is preferred.
- Ability to pass and maintain the departmental verification validation within six months of being in the workplace, and then as required on a periodic basis.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
- Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills.
- Ability to retain information which is of a confidential nature.
- Ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with other individuals.
