Summary:

The Traffic/Bin Spotter provides excellent customer service while directing site traffic, weighing vehicles, operating compactors and scales, and ensuring materials are properly inspected and disposed of safely. Maintains site cleanliness and safety, follows all company procedures and regulations, and collaborates professionally with staff, drivers, and customers.

Responsibilities :

In the position of Traffic/Bin Spotter your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide and demonstrate excellent customer service to provide customers directions for vehicles to the correct disposal areas on the site, and answer questions regarding the unloading of materials.
  • Safe operation of site compactor, weight scale equipment, as well as performing duties that require a complete understanding of the required hand signals for spotting vehicles in a safe, communicative and professional manner.
  • Weigh vehicles in and out at a reasonable pace to ensure accuracy so that they are correct and balanced; provide scales and compactors support when required.
  • Ensure entire outside grounds and the facility inside are routinely cleaned and maintained by performing regular and daily seasonal property maintenance (i.e. snow shoveling, salting, sweeping, litter clean up).
  • Perform visual inspections of loads for contamination; accurately direct traffic to the proper and most appropriate drop off and disposal locations.
  • Routinely inspect and assess site safety conditions by reporting, communicating and documenting any hazardous or potentially hazardous workplace conditions.
  • Liaise with supervisors, managers, site staff, drivers, contractors, customers and regional staff in a professional and team-oriented manner.
  • Work within Miller Waste Systems safety guidelines.
  • Comply with all ISO procedures, Standard Operating Procedures and all Health & Safety Regulations and Policies.

Competencies & Qualifications:

  • Adhere to Miller Waste System safety protocols and be familiar with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Strong multitasking and priority management skills, with the proven ability to organize and to successfully plan work tasks in order of importance and criticality to business operations.
  • Must be able to lift in excess of 50 pounds repeatedly
  • Meet or exceed performance and productivity expectations through proven results.
