Venture Steel has emerged as a leading flat-rolled metal processor and distributor focused upon providing industry-best service in Canada, the United States, and Mexico. An intense service culture, combined with modern processing equipment and our proprietary SSCM software platform enable us to provide real-time order visibility and industry-leading service to our customers.
We are seeking a driven Outside Sales Representative to expand our presence across Western Canada. This is a field-based role focused on generating new business, developing customer relationships, and building a sustainable book of business within the region.
Position Summary
The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities across Western Canada (BC, AB, SK, MB). This role focuses on building profitable customer relationships, expanding market share, and supporting regional growth objectives.
This position reports directly to the General Manager and works closely with Inside Sales and Operations to ensure seamless customer execution.
Education
Bachelor's degree in business or a related field, or a 3–4-year college diploma.
Experience
- 3–7+ years of steel, metals, or industrial distribution sales experience preferred.
- Proven experience generating new business opportunities is considered an asset.
- Experience working within Western Canada markets is preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently while achieving sales objectives.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Comfortable conducting in-person customer meetings and site visits.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to manage a structured sales pipeline.
- Willingness to travel within the assigned territory.
Key Responsibilities
As an Outside Sales Representative at Venture Steel, you will:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities across Western Canada.
- Conduct cold calls, prospecting activities, and on-site customer visits.
- Develop and execute a structured territory plan.
- Build long-term customer relationships and support account growth.
- Meet regional growth targets, including annual volume objectives.
- Maintain regular communication with internal sales and operations teams.
- Provide market feedback and competitive intelligence to management.
- Track sales activity and pipeline progress to support forecasting efforts.
Pay: CA$70,000.00–CA$120,000 per year + commission
