Full-Time | Salaried-Exempt

Position Summary

The Avenir Centre – Legends Global is seeking an experienced and hands-on Operations Manager to support the daily operation, maintenance, and event execution of our world-class venue.

This role is responsible for overseeing facility operations while directly managing and supporting audio-visual and technical production functions. The Operations Manager ensures the venue is event-ready at all times and that live events are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.

This position requires working events, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Reports To: Director of Operations

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Facility Management

  • Assist the Director of Operations in supervising all aspects of venue operations including engineering, building and grounds, technical services, event services, public safety, security, and custodial services
  • Coordinate operational activities with internal departments, promoters, touring personnel, and contractors
  • Implement and enforce facility policies and procedures
  • Anticipate and resolve operational challenges in a timely manner
  • Ensure facility readiness and smooth event execution
  • Oversee maintenance of the physical plant and technical infrastructure
  • Maintain responsibility for the Master MSDS log
  • Serve as Manager on Duty as required

Audio-Visual & Technical Services

  • Advance and coordinate AV requirements for concerts, corporate events, and special events
  • Set up, operate, and strike audio, lighting, video, and staging systems
  • Mix live sound and operate lighting/video systems as needed
  • Supervise technical staff, stagehands, and visiting production crews
  • Troubleshoot technical issues during live events
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of production equipment
  • Enforce safety standards related to rigging, power distribution, and technical operations

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Oversee departments including Changeover, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Operations, Production, Technical Services, Event Services, Public Safety, Security, and/or Parking
  • Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate staff
  • Address performance management and employee relations matters in coordination with HR

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree or technical diploma is considered an asset
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Additional experience may be substituted for formal education
  • Live event production or AV technical experience strongly preferred

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to perform effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure environments

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with event management or technical software preferred
  • Technical or AV certifications considered an asset

Physical Requirements

  • Extensive walking throughout the facility
  • Occasional kneeling, climbing, and balancing
  • Ability to lift or move up to 50 lbs
  • Work performed indoors and outdoors, sometimes in adverse conditions

Schedule

Flexible availability required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedule.
