Job Summary & RequirementsProvide consultation and Occupational Therapy services to address the cognitive, physical, psychiatric and psychosocial needs of the mental health and addiction patients on the in-patient unit though groups or individual therapy to support their recovery and wellbeing. Provide specific standardized assessments of cognitive and functional living skills, ADLs, IADLs and mental status assessments.
Education:
Graduate of an accredited university program of Occupational Therapy
Master degree in Occupational Therapy is preferred.
Current registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario and membership with the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists.
Formal training in CBT/DBT/Solution focused /family Therapy/Supportive counselling would be considered an asset.
MoCA (Montreal Cognitive Assessment Certification
Experience:
Previous related mental health experience with acute and chronic populations using best practices modalities for groups and individuals.
Sound knowledge and understanding of psychiatric illnesses, personality development and dynamics of human behaviour.
Experience with principles of risk management and de-escalation techniques.
Previous experience with the geriatric/aging population
Working knowledge of mental health community resources
