Scope:

The Shared Utility Service (SUS) environment provides a scalable and secure IT infrastructure to meet J2EE hosting needs of I&IT clusters, and by extension, the application, and the web owners in ministry program areas who are their customers. It is an ongoing service and environment that presently hosts up to 200 internal and public-facing government applications.



To meet the demands of a growing client base, ETDD is looking to hire staff to support the operational and service management activities within SUS.

Responsibilities:


Operational Support

– Queue Management:

  • Ensure all SUS operational support requests are assigned and acted upon within service level targets.

– Incident and Service Request Management:


  • Review incident tickets for completeness.
  • Provide basic triage and assign to Tier 3 specialists as needed.
  • Monitor tickets to meet service level targets.
  • Assist in closing/resolving tickets.
  • Provide reports on ticket status and historical data.

– Service Request Fulfillment:

  • Complete standard service requests for SUS clients (e.g., password and account administration, access to tools).

– Change Management:

  • Review assessment tasks on new CRQs for SUS standards compliance.
  • Assign tasks to support specialists.
  • Monitor tasks to meet CRQ deadlines and change management processes.
  • Assist in closing tasks and provide related reports.

General Project Coordination and Communication:


  • Coordinate and lead initiatives with technical and business stakeholders.
  • Communicate complex technical information clearly to non-technical colleagues.
  • Analyze and solve problems effectively.
  • Plan and implement changes, develop project scope documents and plans.
  • Create and maintain operational procedure documentation.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office and other tools for process automation, data analysis, and reporting.

Service Management:

  • Implement ITIL best practices for IT Service Management.
  • Manage incidents, problems, and service requests through the lifecycle.
  • Review data and produce analyses, reports, and data visualizations.
  • Experience with Remedy/eSMT or similar service management tools.

Middle-Ware Support:


  • Manage fluctuating workloads and conflicting priorities in an IT support environment.
  • Technical working experience with Oracle Solaris, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), IBM WebSphere/Liberty/NDM.
  • Support application/web servers, understanding of DevOps and CI/CD concepts.
  • Experience with Axway Secure Transport or similar FTP/SFTP systems.
  • Exposure to DataPower platform, Informatica, IBM MQ, IBM ACE is an asset.
  • General exposure to cloud-based computing solutions and network topologies.

Public Sector Experience:

  • Preferred experience working within the Public Sector or government environments.
