Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Medical Office Assistant at Verismo Health Inc. in Bath, Ontario. The MOA is responsible for conducting medical lab tests, experiments, and analyses to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, and prevention of disease. The role involves operating and maintaining lab equipment, ensuring quality control, and accurately validating and reporting test results in accordance with provincial standards and safety regulations. The position may require shift work, including evenings and weekends, as operational needs require.
Key Responsibilities
- Input, edit, and format electronic medical documents, reports, and correspondence; create and maintain supporting documents for clinician review.
- Perform phlebotomy (venipuncture and capillary) and collect other biological samples from patients while ensuring professional interaction and patient comfort.
- Speak with patients to gather required information for forms, charts, and medical histories.
- Complete insurance paperwork and other claims on behalf of patients.
- Set up, organize, and securely maintain confidential patient records and medical files.
- Support basic financial administration, including preparing invoices, billing summaries, and simple financial statements.
- Implement and manage internal office procedures such as filing systems, document tracking, and routine monthly reporting.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of laboratory quality control standards and safety protocols
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Prior experience in a hospital, diagnostic lab, or clinical laboratory setting is an asset
Work Schedule
- 35 to 40 hours per week
- May include evenings, weekends, and shift work based on operational needs
