OPPORTUNITYAbout the Data Intelligence TeamRYCOM’s Data Intelligence team consists of engineers, technologists, and software developers.

The team is passionate about transforming the real estate industry through the application of Smart Building technology. The three core services that the Data Intelligence Team provides includes ongoing HVAC Fault Detection and Diagnostics (FDD), Master Service integration (MSI) and FDD based Ongoing Commissioning (OCx).Role IntroductionAs a Mechanical Engineer (Smart Buildings) you will rely on your expertise with mechanical building systems and RYCOM’s data-driven analytics tools to provide ongoing HVAC FDD to a portfolio of buildings through an ongoing service model. The objective of the FDD service is to provide optimization of building HVAC operations, improve occupant comfort and reduce energy consumption.Depending on your strengths and past experiences, this role may include responsibilities within our Master Service integration (MSI) and FDD based Ongoing Commissioning (OCx) lines of service.RESPONSIBILITIES Lead FDD ongoing service meetings with clients. Client service meetings include facility and operation managers, energy managers and third party BAS technicians.Review available building documentation to develop an understanding of design intent such as mechanical drawings, control system (BAS) documents and TAB reports.Review and investigate insights from data-driven FDD analytics tools to develop recommendations for our FDD ongoing service clients.Typical maintenance recommendations address unstable equipment operation and faults, minor equipment repair needs and addressing deviations from system design intent.Typical optimization recommendations include BAS control sequence improvements, and improved equipment scheduling.Generate data-driven visualizations to support recommendations.Provide clear communications of the proposed technical recommendations and solutions for clients.Collaborate with third party BAS technicians to promote data directed maintenance and to coordinate control system sequence improvement projects.Provide guidance on HVAC system operations to our FDD Deployment Team during the initial deployment of our FDD analytics.Identify opportunities for technology-based building operations solutions within our existing client base.All other duties as assigned.

Skills to be Successful at the RoleRYCOM’s BSE relies on three main skill sets to accomplish their objectives: An understanding of mechanical engineering principles and commercial building HVAC systems,HVAC systems control techniques and energy optimization strategies,Client relationship development. REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar discipline.5+ years of experience with mechanical building systems gained through your past roles within the building automation sector, engineering consulting, energy management or building commissioning sectors.In-depth knowledge of commercial building HVAC systems and their associated BAS controls.Experience with HVAC systems control sequences and energy optimization strategies. Familiarity with ASHRAE Guideline 36 is an asset. Strong analytical skills to interpret building system data and make data-driven decisions.Excellent communication skills to convey technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Programming aptitude in Python or R, or experience with Data Visualization and Reporting is considered an asset.Certified Energy Manager or Existing Building Commissioning designations are an asset.A valid driver’s license (clean abstract) and available to travel.Eligibility for P.Eng designation.
