Position Overview
The Material Planner is responsible for the tactical execution of material planning and inventory management at the Milton manufacturing facility. This role ensures the uninterrupted flow of raw materials, packaging, and operating supplies to support production schedules while maintaining inventory accuracy and cost effectiveness.
Working closely with Production, Supply Chain Planning, Procurement, Quality, and Warehouse teams, the Material Planner reacts to forecast changes, schedule adjustments, and operational challenges in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Plan, order, and manage raw materials, packaging, and operating supplies to support production requirements
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels aligned with forecasts, production schedules, and service targets
- Monitor material availability and proactively resolve potential shortages or excess inventory situations
- Execute inventory replenishment using MRP and ERP systems (e.g., SAP)
- Coordinate with Procurement and suppliers to manage lead times, delivery performance, and material issues
- Support receiving, inventory control, and material handling processes within the facility
- Participate in cycle counts, year‑end inventory activities, and inventory reconciliation
- Analyze inventory data and identify opportunities for continuous improvement and waste reduction
- Support food safety, quality, and audit requirements (SQF, HACCP, internal and external audits)
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment between material plans and production needs
Qualifications
- Post‑secondary education in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, or a related field
- 2–5 years of experience in material planning, inventory control, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment
- Experience working in an MRP/ERP environment (SAP preferred)
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, basic formulas)
- Experience in a food manufacturing environment and familiarity with SQF/HACCP is an asset
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments
