Automation Machine Operator– York, ON

Department: Manufacturing / Production

Reports To: Production Supervisor

Location: North York area (near Hwy 400 & Sheppard Ave W), Toronto

Shift: Day shift

Pay Rate: $22–$28/hour

Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Overview

We are looking for a Manufacturing Technical Operator to join our growing food production team. This role supports daily production by operating equipment, completing basic maintenance, and helping ensure consistent product quality in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will help reduce downtime, support continuous improvement, and contribute to a safe and organized workplace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor production equipment following standard procedures.
  • Complete machine setup, adjustments, and changeovers as required.
  • Perform routine quality checks to ensure products meet specifications.
  • Identify equipment issues, make minor adjustments, and report larger concerns to maintenance.
  • Carry out basic preventive maintenance and pre-operation inspections.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness and support workplace safety standards.
  • Accurately complete production records, downtime reports, and related documentation.
  • Work closely with maintenance and engineering teams to resolve equipment challenges.
  • Follow Health & Safety guidelines, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and company policies.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, waste reduction, and quality.
  • Take part in shift handovers, team meetings, and safety activities.
  • Assist with training team members on equipment operation and basic troubleshooting.
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective actions when issues arise.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing or production setting.
  • Technical or vocational training (or equivalent hands-on experience).
  • General familiarity with automated equipment, HMIs, and basic control systems.
  • Mechanical aptitude with a basic understanding of motors, lubrication, and preventive maintenance.
  • Ability to read technical documents and follow operating procedures.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, safety, and quality standards.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $22.00-$27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
