This is for someone who has excellent organizational and time management skills and is experienced with Homestead’s policies and standard operating procedures. You will conduct weekly and monthly inspections of all life safety equipment, facilitate and oversee annual inspections by licensed contractors, train building staff and ensure that identified deficiencies are corrected in a timely and cost-effective manner.It is necessary to ensure that life safety systems incorporated into our building structures are tested, documented and maintained in sound working condition and meet the codes prescribed in the Ontario Fire Code.
This entails physical inspection of all equipment at various rates of frequency as determined by the applicable codes. Frequencies are characterized as daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annual and annual. The daily functions are performed by the resident site-staff, with the weekly and monthly audits completed by the Life Safety Specialist.RESPONSIBILITIES:Weekly, monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual inspections of all life safety systems as per the Ontario Fire Code.Monthly load test of the generators.Exclusive and consistent record keeping of all fire logbooks and records.Coordination of yearly certification of all buildings in the portfolio by an approved outside contractor.Training of all site staff with regards to daily duties, operation of equipment and applicable site staff responsibilities.Verification and updating of fire plans i.e. personnel; residents requiring accommodation needs; equipment changes.Verification of deficiencies and assistance with orders to comply.Other assigned duties as applicable.Follow an ‘on-call’ scheduleQUALIFICATIONS:Completion of the Fire Alarm Technician Program at the college level is considered an assetValid Ontario Driver’s License and reliable vehicleKnowledge of fire alarm panels and sprinkler systems.Familiarity with generators and their application.A satisfactory reference check, criminal records clearance, and proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 are required for the position, though the Company will provide any accommodation required by law.Homestead Land Holdings Limited is an equal opportunity employer.
