The Opportunity:
Branksome Hall is seeking an experienced Library Technician to work in our Junior School Library. With strong organizational skills and a proven ability to build a caring rapport with students, the successful candidate will join the Library team providing a welcoming and inclusive environment.
The position follows the academic calendar and is part-time, where the Library Technician will work Tuesday to Thursday, weekly between September and June. The hours of work are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. (3 days per week – 23.25 hours per week) in person and on campus.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Supporting circulation, preparing and sending overdue notices and student charges, shelving resources;
Troubleshooting, providing support and answering questions for faculty, staff and students with regards to reference, library materials and technology;
Cataloguing and processing new library materials with assistance from the teacher-librarian;
Promotion of print and online materials;
Performing inventory and shelf reading;
Reviewing and purchasing materials with guidance and discussion with teacher-librarian;
Supervising students during Study Hall;
Regularly communicating with booksellers and other community members.
Candidate Profile
As the ideal candidate you hold a Library Technician Diploma or equivalent and 1-2 years of related experience, preferably in an educational setting. Equivalent combinations of training and experience will be considered.
Tech savvy, collaborative, highly adaptable and organized, you enjoy working with primary and junior aged students and thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment that is mission-driven, and values based. With a keen eye to detail, you have the knowledge and understanding of standard library procedures, reference skills, cataloguing using the Dewey Decimal system; and understanding of the philosophy of the school library as a classroom and place of learning rather than as a reference library.
You have experience with integrated library systems and familiarity working with online databases and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. You must be able to exercise a high level of discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism in your work. You bring a positive and can-do approach Strong technology skills, as well as proficiency in MS office applications and Google Suite complete your profile.

Target Hiring Range: $45,100 – $56,300 (salary is prorated based on the part-time, 10-month status of the role)
