About the Club
The Buffalo Canoe Club is a private sailing club located in Ridgeway, ON. The Club provides exceptional on-water experiences for our members and guests. Our facilities include a full-service marina, launch service, sailing programs, a full-service food & beverage operation and social events throughout the season. We pride ourselves on safety, professionalism, and a welcoming club atmosphere.
Position Summary
The Club is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Launch Attendant and/or Experienced Marina Hand to join our waterfront team for the upcoming season. This role is ideal for someone with at least 2 years of experience operating small vessels or working in a marina environment. The successful candidate will support daily dock operations, assist members, and help ensure a safe and efficient waterfront.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate club boats to transport members and guests to and from moorings safely
- Assist with docking, mooring, and line handling for member vessels
- Assist with boat launch and haul-out
- Monitor marina activity and maintain a safe waterfront environment
- Provide courteous assistance to members and guests
- Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance of docks, equipment, and vessels
- Assist with fueling operations where applicable
- Support regattas, sailing programs, and club events as needed
- Maintain cleanliness of docks, launch boats, and marina areas
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a launch driver or marina hand
- Strong boat handling skills and knowledge of safe boating practices
- Valid Pleasure Craft Operator Card (required)
- First Aid/CPR certification (preferred)
- Ability to work outdoors, on the water, in various weather conditions
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to lift heavy lines, equipment, and supplies
- Forklift experience or training is an asset
- Experience trailering boats
- Availability for weekends, holidays, and evenings
Assets (Not Required)
- Experience with sailboats
- Knowledge of VHF radio procedures
- Mechanical aptitude for minor repairs
- Experience working at a yacht or sailing club
Compensation
Competitive seasonal wage based on experience.
Schedule
Seasonal position with flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays during peak season.
