Salary: $63,000.00 - $71,000.00 (Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.)
The Opportunity:
BluMetric is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our Finance team at our Ottawa office. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional looking to build a strong foundation in corporate accounting, financial reporting, and compliance within a collaborative and supportive environment.
The successful candidate will support day-to-day accounting activities, assist with month-end processes, and work closely with senior members of the Finance team, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Project Accounting. This role offers strong learning and growth potential. This is an existing vacancy within the organization.
Job responsibilities:
- Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
Support the preparation of internal financial reports and schedules.
Perform basic variance analysis on balance sheet and income statement accounts. - Process vendor invoices and employee expense reports.
Assist with subledger accounting by working closely with AR, AP, and Project Accounting teams.
Support joint venture accounting activities, including data collection and coordination with Project Accountants.
Assist with quarterly and year-end financial reporting and audit preparation
Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes by gathering and organizing financial data.
Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and internal controls.
Assist with special projects, reporting, and process improvements as assigned.
Maintain accurate documentation and organized financial records.
Qualifications, Education, and Skills:
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
13 years of relevant accounting or finance experience (co-op, internship, or entry-level experience considered).
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Good organizational and time-management skills.
Willingness to learn, ask questions, and take initiative.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
