IT Server Specialist page is loaded## IT Server Specialistlocations: Saint Johntime type: Full timeposted on: Posted Todayjob requisition id: R128188As an IT Server Specialist, you will work closely with our vendors to maintain the Data Center by provisioning physical, virtual, and cloud servers, monitoring server activity, performing software upgrades, maintaining server hardware, resolving technical issues, and enhancing efficiency through analysis and evaluation of network server functions. Your goal will be to ensure that all server environments operate reliably and securely by adhering to industry best practices related to storage systems, operating systems, account security, directory services, server virtualization, and software/application packaging and deployments. Your success will be measured by your ability to maintain stable, high‑performing server infrastructure, proactively address issues, support smooth deployments, and uphold secure, compliant, and efficient systems across the organization.**What We Offer:*** **Work Environment –** Work in our beautiful home office building with access to a fitness facility, onsite nurse, and a café* **Competitive Compensation –** Including an annual bonus plan, pension plan, and parking allowance* **Flexible Benefits Plan –**In effect from day one and offers three levels of coverage to select from to meet your unique, personal needs* **Paid Vacation –**Plus an annual option to purchase additional vacation, too* **Wellness Support –** With an annual wellness allowance, paid personal care days and a 24/7 Employee & Family Assistance Program* **Opportunity to give back to some amazing causes in our community –** Choose when and where to make an impact with a paid volunteer day, company volunteer opportunities, and a donation matching program**Your Responsibilities:*** Oversee maintenance and operations of multiple servers, including database, file, mail, print, web, and application environments* Partner with vendors to configure and optimize server performance, including connectivity, utilization, administration, and tuning* Lead and manage SCCM administration, including deployment packaging, network inventory, boundaries, installer design, and support for End User teams* Maintain storage systems, backups, and ensure robust backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and business continuity practices* Troubleshoot server issues by identifying, diagnosing, resolving, documenting, and tracking problems across network, host, and operating systems* Collaborate with team members and vendors to source and select hardware aligned with company requirements and standards* Maintain strong expertise in Windows and Linux Server environments and stay current with system updates and changes* Develop test plans and strategies for new functionality and create technical specifications for new server purchases**Your Skills:*** Support multiple customers and stakeholders. Need to be able to react quickly and calmly to any server issues and resolve them as quickly as possible* Knowledge of Active Directory, Domain Name Servers (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), and other basic corporate network services* Ability to use PowerShell and other scripting languages to streamline repetitive tasks and make changes on a large volume of endpoints* A good understanding of security concepts such as certificates, encryption, firewalls, and NTFS permissions* Excellent troubleshooting capabilities, ability to read and understand logs, use command line tools to verify configurations and connectivity**Your Experience:*** Post‑secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field, supported by 8+ years of IT experience, including leading software deployment solutions and 5 years working with enterprise‑level virtual and physical server infrastructures* Extensive hands‑on experience installing, managing, and troubleshooting Microsoft Server environments, with additional expertise in Azure IaaS/PaaS/SaaS and vendor‑supported network environments; Linux experience considered an asset*Irving Oil is committed to supporting a diverse and inclusive work environment.
