IT Assistant
Job Description
Weaver Simmons LLP is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented IT Assistant to support the firm's day-to-day technology needs. This is a permanent, part-time position (3 days per week) reporting directly to the IT Coordinator.
The IT Assistant plays an important supporting role in maintaining stable, secure, and efficient technology operations for approximately 90 users. This position has the potential to transition into a full-time role based on performance and firm needs.
Duties and Responsibilities
End-User Support
· Provide first-level technical support to lawyers and staff for hardware and software issues
· Assist with troubleshooting desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and mobile devices
· Support password resets, system access requests, and basic application assistance
· Assist with setting up and configuring new workstations and user accounts
· Help document and track IT issues using internal logs or ticketing systems
Hardware & Equipment Support
· Assist with inventory tracking and organization of IT equipment
· Prepare and deploy hardware for new hires
· Support equipment moves and reconfigurations within the office
· Maintain accurate asset records under the direction of the IT Coordinator
Systems & Administrative Support
· Assist the IT Coordinator with routine maintenance tasks
· Support system updates and scheduled maintenance
· Help maintain documentation and internal IT procedures
· Liaise with staff to ensure compliance with IT policies
Security & Compliance Support
· Maintain confidentiality and data protection standards
· Report any security concerns or system risks to the IT Coordinator
· Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes (equipment setup and recovery)
Perform other IT-related duties as assigned by the IT Coordinator or IT Committee.
Qualifications
· Diploma or degree in Information Technology or related field.
· 1–2 years of experience in IT support or technical troubleshooting preferred
· Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
· Strong organization and problem-solving skills.
· Professional communication skills and ability to assist non-technical users
· Ability to work independently and take initiative
· Knowledge of Windows, including Active Directory Management, Sonicwall, Barracuda, ESET, Office 365, Microsoft Suites, Adobe, Sharepoint, Zoom, and hardware troubleshooting is considered as asset.
