Europ Assistance Canada, part of Generali Group (www.generali.com), is looking for an IT Program Manager to join our IT team in Canada, who can contribute to the building of local Canadian operations.


Europ Assistance (www.europ-assistance.com) is a global company, active in over 200 countries and territories in the delivery of our products and services.


The Canadian business unit will strategically focus its efforts on the Travel Insurance industry with the distribution of product offerings and associated service solutions to key stakeholders for their customers traveling abroad or within Canada.


This role will report into the Head of IT and is based in Toronto, with the working environment being a mix of in-office and remote work, though always in close collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders.


This position is responsible for planning and directing a portfolio of IT projects that support the annual strategic plan for Europ Assistance Canada. This role requires analysis of complex technical & business problems to be solved through automated systems and process improvement. This role also requires managing the overall IT demand intake process and resource/capacity management.


Responsibilities



  • Lead the development of Steering Committee presentations and confidently present project updates, risks, and strategic insights to Senior leadership.

  • Serve as a project ambassador throughout the gate review process, ensuring alignment with IT governance standards and stakeholder expectations.

  • Drive project delivery by managing scope, schedule, and budget, proactively identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies, communicated effectively through Steering Committee forums.

  • Apply the PMBOK framework to all phases of project management

  • Demonstrate strong collaboration and communication skills, engaging effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with internal clients and stakeholders.

  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members, internal clients, and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.

  • Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.

  • Direct and manage IT workstreams for the project management office, provide required reporting, etc.

  • Management of JIRA and other software programs required for project management within IT and the project management office.

  • Manage demand intake for all IT requests, categorize and triage requests

  • Work with IT leadership to prioritize IT requests based on capacity/resource management

  • Develop and manage project budgets and report on forecast vs actual spend

  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.

  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools, Track project milestones and deliverables.

  • Determine the frequency and content of status reports, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas.

  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.

  • Conduct project postmortems and create recommendations report to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.

  • Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.

  • Apply practical business knowledge to ensure project implementation is aligned with business needs.

  • Direct and manage project from beginning to end.

  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.

  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.

  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.

  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.

  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.

  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.

  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.

  • Drives, manages, and coordinates all aspects of a product lifecycle, including long and short-term development.

  • Organizes and conducts weekly product development meetings to ensure product requests are developed accordingly.

  • Organize and lead weekly product implementation meetings and SCRUM sessions.

  • Stays abreast of trends in the marketplace to ensure the product’s competitive position.

  • Oversee technical integration between partner systems and internal distribution systems.

  • Interfaces with product drivers and clients to determine the product’s future direction.

  • Accountable for product life cycle management from product design to installation and distribution.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by leadership.

  • Technical and Business Acumen: Possess a solid understanding of the technical aspects of the project, ensuring that technical requirements are met.

  • Estimate the resources, financial and non-financial, and participants needed to achieve project goals.

  • Apply practical business knowledge to ensure project implementation is aligned with business needs.

  • Supervision, Teamwork and Collaboration: Direct and manage IT projects and IT workstreams for the project management office from beginning to end.

  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.

  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.

  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.

  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.

  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.

  • Management of Clickup, JIRA and other software programs required for project management within IT and the project management office.

  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.

  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.

  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.

  • Manage IT requests funnel and collaborate with IT leadership to prioritize and categorize requests


Product and Contract Implementation

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required



  • University or College Degree in the field of Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business, or equivalent in the combination of education and professional experience.

  • PMP / Agile or Scrum Certification required.

  • Lean Six Sigma or Other Process Management Certification preferred.

  • Solid working knowledge of current Internet technologies and programming languages.

  • Technically competent with various software programs including Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook), Jira or other project management tools required.

  • Minimum of eight years’ work experience in project management or related capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution
