Our leading mental health client is looking for an IT Manager (Scientific Computing Team) to join their team. This role is a 6 month contract to start with possibility for extension. The role will operate on a hybrid model with 2-3 days a week on site.

Reporting to the Director of Neuroinformatics Operations and the Chief Technology Officer, the selected candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering information technology and informatics services to our research community.

Responsibilities include providing strategic direction for research IT and scientific computing operations, identifying opportunities for innovation and process improvement, maintaining positive relationships with IT vendors, and leading a team of research IT support services professionals. The successful candidate will be actively involved in managing computational research infrastructure, supporting high-performance computing programs, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities:


  • Ensure operational excellence for Research Informatics infrastructure and technical environments.
  • Integrate cutting-edge research informatics technologies and services, strategically procuring hardware and software components.
  • Direct the formulation and execution of infrastructure and technical services aligned with the evolving needs of the research community.
  • Support the front-line delivery of research end-user computing resources.
  • Oversee a team of Informatics Specialists, ensuring the maintenance, delivery, and enhancement of core operational services.
  • Set objectives and performance targets for staff, fostering a culture of accountability and operational excellence.
  • Craft detailed operational timelines, milestones, and strategies for peak informatics and infrastructure performance.
  • Ensure best-practice informatics cybersecurity for relevant systems.
  • Support annual budgeting for infrastructure and software, overseeing large-scale procurement.
  • Cultivate the operational proficiency of staff through targeted mentoring and coaching.
  • Develop presentations for team, stakeholders, clients, and executives to outline status, performance, progress, and projects.
  • Report on timelines, milestones, service delivery metrics, and customer satisfaction.


Qualifications:

  • University degree (BSc.) in health care, health informatics, computer engineering, or a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in supporting/leading Research Informatics, Technical or Infrastructure teams.
  • Demonstrated expertise in implementing and overseeing high-performance computing, storage, and data platforms.
  • IT Security experience is a must
  • Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems is a must as well as patching and upgrades
  • Must have experience in servers, storage, networking, virtualization, and system monitoring
  • Proficiency in infrastructure and facilities planning, focusing on implementing scientific research informatics initiatives.
  • Capability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and achieve goals within defined timelines and budgets.
  • Experience and knowledge in research data capture and data management.
  • Proven track record of successfully working on complex informatics projects within a team environment.
  • Bilingualism considered an asset.
