Job Summary

The Hydraulic Technician is responsible for the advanced diagnosis, repair, rebuild, and testing of hydraulic systems supporting crushing equipment, hydraulic toggle systems, and heavy industrial machinery. This role requires specialized expertise in high-pressure hydraulics, precision cylinder repair, and failure analysis to ensure safe, reliable, and continuous operation of crushing and material-processing equipment. The technician works independently with minimal supervision and provides technical leadership within the shop environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, rebuild, and maintain hydraulic systems used in crushing equipment, including jaw crushers, cone crushers, and associated hydraulic toggle assemblies.
  • Perform complete disassembly, inspection, machining coordination, and reassembly of hydraulic cylinders, including high-load and high-pressure applications.
  • Inspect and service hydraulic toggle systems, accumulator circuits, relief valves, and safety systems critical to crusher protection and performance.
  • Identify root causes of hydraulic and mechanical failures related to crushing operations, including over-pressure events, seal failures, and component fatigue.
  • Measure and verify critical tolerances using precision instruments such as micrometers, verniers, dial indicators, and bore gauges.
  • Identify, size, source, and install seals, wear bands, rods, and bearings specific to crushing and heavy-duty hydraulic applications.
  • Conduct pressure testing, functional testing, and performance verification of repaired cylinders and hydraulic assemblies.
  • Interpret and work from hydraulic schematics, mechanical drawings, OEM manuals, and technical specifications to determine repair procedures.
  • Operate overhead cranes, hoists, presses, and other lifting and shop equipment in accordance with safety regulations.
  • Maintain detailed service records, inspection reports, and repair documentation to support quality control and compliance.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance planning and continuous improvement initiatives related to crushing equipment reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace safety standards, manufacturer specifications, and regulatory requirements at all times.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (minimum).
  • 3 years + demonstrated hands-on experience in hydraulic cylinder repair and hydraulic systems for heavy or crushing equipment is required.
  • Proven experience working with hydraulic toggle systems, accumulators, and high-pressure circuits.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot complex hydraulic and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and contribute effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to quality workmanship and safety.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving abstract.

Job Type:
