We are currently seeking a full time Heavy Equipment Technicians / Mechanics to join our projects team. These positions are responsible for the mechanical repair and maintenance of transport trucks, trailers, earth moving, earth drilling and related construction equipment. This position will be based out of Calgary, AB when not on project, and periodically be based on field project sites in Western Canada on a rotational shift.If you are a MacGyver with tools and known for being able to assess, diagnose, repair, and maintain any kind of heavy mechanical equipment, and have a journeyman/woman certification, one of these roles might be right for you.Responsibilities and Duties Repair and adjust engine diagnostics, brakes, suspension, hydraulic pumps, safety valves, and any other necessary mechanical components Inspect, repair, and adjust gasoline and diesel-powered units Diagnose defects in heavy duty equipment, repair cooling, and lubrication systems Install and align engines and machinery Repair mechanical transmissions, drivetrains, and final drives Repair cable-operated working attachments, winches, compressors, pumps, electric generators, etc. Adhere and comply to all workplace safety policies and regulations Report unsafe conditions or injuries in a timely manner to facilitate prompt correction Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround time and streamline work processes Have a team-oriented approach and thought process Perform mechanical repairs on equipment in the shop and on off-site equipment when required Perform electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting and diagnostics Complete accurate work orders in a timely fashion Test and inspect equipment to ensure repairs are completed to manufacturers’ specifications and Government standards Mentor and train Apprentice Mechanics Maintain organized and detailed maintenance reports and documentation Maintain a good working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques Other duties as requiredRequirements Red Seal Journeyman/woman Heavy Equipment Technician (off-road or on-road certification or equivalent; i.e agricultural equipment technician) 5 years experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy equipment and mining equipment.

Clean Class 5 Driver License with a clean Driver Abstract Ideally you have a class 1 driver’s license Proven mechanical abilities in hydraulics, pneumatic and electrical, including schematics and diagnostics Computer literate Service-focused with a team player attitude Proven ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Attention to detail, mechanically inclined and strong problem-solving skills Excellent communication skills both verbal and written _Criminal record check and drug and alcohol testing required_Work Environment Monday to Friday up to 10hr shifts Ability to lift 50 lbs or more Field project based on Microtunneling and Tunneling projects. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions Ability to work 21 days in a row for 12 hours per day while assigned to a field project team.You must live in Calgary and be able to commute to our shop on a daily basis as well as be able to work remotely on projects as needed.We would like to thank you for your interest in The Tunneling Company.
