Job Description

1. Summary

The Public Dining Server provides exceptional hospitality and service to guests dining at Roots Kitchen & Bar, Harbour Landing Village's locally inspired public restaurant. This position combines table service, bartending, and food running responsibilities to ensure efficient, high-quality service and memorable guest experiences.

The Public Dining Server is responsible for taking orders, preparing and serving beverages, delivering food, and maintaining strong coordination between the kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure every guest receives outstanding service and hospitality

2. Key Responsibilities

Guest Service: Provide warm, professional service to all restaurant guests, ensuring a positive dining experience from start to finish.

Order Taking & Delivery: Accurately take and enter food and beverage orders, coordinate with the kitchen, and ensure timely delivery to tables.

Bartending & Beverage Service: Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, specialty coffees, and cocktails according to SLGA regulations.

Food Running: Deliver meals from the kitchen to the public restaurant area, ensuring accuracy, presentation, and timeliness.

Table Maintenance: Set up, clear, and reset tables, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and readiness for guests at all times.

Cash & POS Handling: Process guest payments, balance cashouts, and handle transactions accurately and responsibly.

Guest Relations: Anticipate guest needs, handle concerns with professionalism, and make recommendations to enhance the dining experience.

Safety & Compliance: Maintain adherence to SLGA, Food Safe, and WHMIS regulations. Ensure responsible alcohol service and food safety at all times.

Collaboration: Work closely with the kitchen and bar teams to ensure smooth coordination during peak service hours.

Cleanliness & Organization: Keep the bar and service areas tidy, stocked, and compliant with sanitation standards.

Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of Roots Kitchen & Bar and Harbour Landing Village's Food & Beverage operations.

3. Skills, Qualification, & Requirements

1–2 years of experience in food and beverage service, including bartending or barista experience preferred

Valid Serve It Right and WHMIS certifications required

Strong communication, multitasking, and organizational skills

Friendly, professional, and customer-focused with excellent teamwork abilities

Knowledge of bar service, espresso machines, and cocktail preparation

Ability to manage cash transactions and POS systems accurately

Physically capable of standing for long periods and carrying trays safely

Adaptable, dependable, and passionate about providing high-quality service
