Role Overview
Based at the North American HQ, this newly created role will be responsible for supervising the month-end close process, financial reporting, and day-to-day accounting operations for some of the Canadian entities. Responsibilities will include but to be limited to:
Responsibilities
Manage monthly and year-end close processes across assigned entities
Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
Perform intercompany reconciliations and support consolidation processes
Prepare management reports, KPI schedules, operational variance analysis, and reporting packages
Lead the fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and general ledger processes as well as preparation/review of balance sheet reconciliations
Provide day-to-day mentorship, review, and oversight to other junior accounting team members
Review non-PO invoices to ensure proper coding, approvals, and compliance
Review and approve monthly bank reconciliations and cash clearing accounts
Strengthen and monitor internal controls across accounting processes
Track and resolve audit queries in collaboration with the Controller
Oversee preparation and timely submission of statutory filings and remittances
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, federal and provincial regulatory requirements, and corporate policies
Assist with future system integrations and change management initiatives
Support the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes by preparing historical analysis and supporting schedules
Qualifications
CPA designation or near completion.
7+ years of accounting experience
2+ years in a supervisory or management role
Strong month-end close and multi-entity reporting experience
Ability and passion to delve into details, identify root cause of issues and propose and implement a solution to improve processes
Experience in manufacturing, construction, or project-based industries preferred
ERP experience required (Sage and Dynamics 365 preferred; consolidation experience a plus)
