As a Field Service Professional/Equipment Maintenance Technician, you will maintain a variety of light industrial equipment found in The Home Depot retail locations such as paint shakers, carpet carousels, checkout stand, blind cutting machines, and lifts. This position requires being a self-starter, being eager to “hit the road” and derive great satisfaction in getting equipment up and running. You will generally provide maintenance and repairs in various assigned locations and travel to the assigned stores with a designated company vehicle.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be customer-focused, strive to delight the customer
- Be available and accessible by phone and tablet daily as required
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and service light industrial equipment both mechanically and electrically
- Troubleshoot, adapt, and resolve/repair all issues to keep equipment functioning properly
- Test each system after service/repair is complete to ensure the system is functioning properly
- Perform proper inspection of customer system to prevent future issues
- Explain each service and repair performed to customers
- Use sound judgment to deal with and eliminate safety related issues
- Provide detailed and clear service reports, turning them in daily
- Read mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical schematics as required
- Use computer / tablet applications for word processing, modify Excel spreadsheets, inventory control, and reporting
- Provide daily reports and communicate regularly with Store Managers, District Managers and home office personnel
- Make phone calls and process paperwork in accordance with HDES policies and procedures
- Complete other tasks as assigned by your Leader or Sr. Field Services Professional
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have valid Driver’s License and good driving record
- High School Diploma, GED, Technical or Trade School
- Versatile equipment maintenance repair skill set
- Beginner/light PLC and Welding experience (ARC / MIG / TIG / Wire feed)
- Ability to adhere to Health and Safety regulations including, but not limited to fall protection, lock-out tag-out procedures
- Wrench-in-hand experience (mechanical, engineering, electrical, copiers, or cable installation (Experience limited to only computer/IT repair and installation is not generally a fit for this role)
- Must be able to read mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical schematics as required
- Ability to sit, stand and drive for extended periods of time. Lift heavy weight and climb onto equipment.
- Must reside within 25 km of the assigned Region/Base Location
- Must have standard tools used in the trade/craft
- Be a self-starter, driving customer satisfaction with a passion for equipment maintenance
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working conditions may include working in the outdoors on Industrial equipment as well as in cold, hot and damp areas. Lifting from the waist, lifting from the shoulder, prolonged standing and repetition of hand and arm movements, working at heights and bending is also a part of working conditions. May require overnight travel about 20% of the time.
POSITION TYPE/HOURS OR WORK
Position is full-time, requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week. May be asked to work outside of regularly scheduled shifts. Overtime may be required. Regular scheduled shifts will include one weekend day.
Flexible but typically 7:30AM – 4:00PM, Sunday-Thursday, Monday-Friday or Tuesday-Saturday
