RESPONSIBILITIES
- As an Estimator, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Serve as the primary liaison with vendors, insured clients, adjusters, engineers, building inspectors, and internal teams (administration, accounting, project managers).
- Lead the full lifecycle of claims—from intake and on-site inspection through emergency response and potential rebuild.
- Accurately assess property damage and create clear, detailed, and profitable restoration estimates aligned with company KPIs.
- Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and trade quotes and invoices, to support scope accuracy and cost control.
- Conduct on-site evaluations, including moisture readings, photographs, sketches, and documentation.
- Issue purchase orders (POs) and coordinate the timely delivery of required materials and services.
- Manage and maintain all project-related documentation in software systems, ensuring compliance with internal and external reporting requirements.
- Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours emergency services
- Ensure strict adherence to all building codes, health and safety regulations, and labour and human rights legislation.
- Coordinate periodic visit with project manager to examine progress and provide oversight to track claim progress to maximize project profitability, communications, and timelines
- Review and approve job costs, upload invoicing, and coordinate closely with the administration team.
- Maintain organized tender documentation and track compliance metrics across platforms.
- Use company-required systems to complete estimates and project documentation accurately.
REQUIREMENTS
- To be considered for the Estimator position, you must have:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in emergency restoration (fire, water, wind, ice)
- High School Diploma
- Current IICRC accreditation preferable
- Valid license with clean driving record
- Bondable
- Excellent analytical skills and a strong accountability mindset
- A solid knowledge of the restoration industry
- Fluent in English (spoken and written)
- Good communication, multi-tasking, organization, and decision-making skills
- People’s skills - must be able to remain calm and resolve difficult situations.
- Knowledge and experience of computer and technology skills (Email, Excel, MS Word, Outlook)
- Preferable knowledge of Xactimate, XactAnalysis, Encircle, DocuSketch, PSA, etc.
- Take initiative in resolving client concerns with professionalism, urgency, and care, ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the process.
- Note: We specifically prefer professionals with a deep understanding of preserving existing structures in the restoration industry.
